🕰️This was Breshna’s MVP 3 years ago Clunky, bare bones & not very pretty 😅 I almost cancelled our MVP launch 6 hours prior because I was too scared, too embarrassed, too skeptical! (thanks to Rizwan Nusrat’s 3am pep talk, we stayed on track)! Since then we’ve: ✅Completely revamped the user interface ✅Added 21 new game templates & 3k+ game assets ✅Integrated RTL script ✅Enabled custom uploads ✅Enhanced data analytics ✅Introduced co-creation of games ✅Implemented mobile optimization ✅Developed foundations for security & scalability ✅Procured a patent for our tech stack ✅Built an AI powered text to game engine & 3d metaverse Today Breshna is delightful to use, is now a beast of an ecosystem with 180k game makers & 2m game plays and is only getting started! The thing about momentum is, it needs building blocks! You gotta start somewhere, so start today, start with the bare minimum, start with something you’re not fully sure of in it’s current state but it’s potential is crystal clear, let the present be uncertain so you can cement your future vision! *************** If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you’ve launched too late. – Reid Hoffman ***************

Fascinating conversation between Christopher Dring (head of Gamesindustry.biz) and shawn layden (previous head of PlayStation) on tangible solutions for the future of gaming studios. Some very interesting questions/thoughts raised: 1. As gamers, do we continue to correlate length of games vs. a fun/impactful experience? (i.e. this game is worth my money because it's X # of hours). 2. "Is AI the answer? No. AI will be an assisting technology." We need to rethink how we make games compared to 40 years ago by building more/stronger tool sets & engines to support game devs. 3. Being ok to make a hard call when something isn't working. Being disciplined with our deadlines and constantly interrogating what we're doing and building. As a Lead UX Designer in games, I really hope to hear more conversations like this one! 🎮 https://lnkd.in/gFpS5Cpf

I’ve built something new and it involves #bikes and #tech… My latest side project is called The Gradient Games. It’s a new form of health/training motivation for people who ride bikes. It brings together gaming, rewards and (friendly) competition, as incentives to live a more #activelifestyle. 👉 app.thegradientgames.com 👈 The Gradient Games offers weekly competitions in which you earn points by riding your bike. Your points convert into chances to win. Think “raffle”, but instead of buying tickets, you earn them through #movement. The Gradient Games is currently open in Beta, with 17 riders (and counting...) already playing in the first game (thanks so much 🙏). There’s post-Beta perks on offer for those who join early and connect their Strava account (this is where I get the activity data from), so jump in and don't miss out 😏 If you like the sound of this and know others who might, I’ll see you (and them 🤞) in the games! Let’s get the world moving.

A few tricks to keep players engaged without adding any major LiveOps events:- - Add competition: The best way to do that is having an XP system and making a leaderboard so players can compete. You can add rewards based on levels reached. A thing that always works is giving players cool titles when they reach a level. - Revise the gameplay: Once players are done going through the core loop, reset it! Now this might seem like a bad idea but we have been doing this for years now, we just named it 'Rebirth'. - Add new IAPs with great visuals every week: Now this isn't going to require a lot of work and can boost retention. - Add free play activites: Add fun interactive objects throughout the map so players will never get bored. - Introduce competitions based on the core loop: If it's a running simulator, add races. If it's a fighting simulator, add one on one fights. If it's an avatar shop, introduce shopping spree competitions. This totally relies on the type of game and your creativitiy. - Add free crate drops: Just like it's in our popular battle royale games, we can incorporate this idea too. Give free stuff to keep players incentivized. - Rewarding tactics: Add a daily login system, achievements system to keep rewarding players. Achievement system once built, will require minimal work to add new achievements and rewards and can keep players engaged for a long time. #gamedev #gamedesign #gamedevelopment #gamedesigner #liveops #gameindustry #gamesindustry #roblox #unity #unrealengine

New Project Update! Over the last week, I participated in the Bullet Hell Jam 5 on itch.io and developed a 3D Arena Shooter called Chaos Desert. I visited the Playcrafting Indie Dev nights at BrookLAN: New York’s Home For Gaming & Esports and was inspired by the Arena Brawlers games I saw so I wanted to attempt something like that for this Jam. Working on this game was quite fun because one of the biggest things I often forget in game development is how much can be achieved in prototyping stages with just regular blocks and cubes before package assets come into play. Without the pressure of scope-creeping, downloading art assets, and implementing animations, I overcame problems and challenges with high focus that arose on the programming side of gameplay. I focused on designing and scripting reusable gameplay systems with both Players and NPCs taking advantage of those systems, which strengthened my understanding of good AI Design and ultimately made it easier to implement other game features. (weapons, game feel, turrets, bullet types, match settings and behavior systems for AI, etc....) I am personally proud of this one, and might continue to work on it but for now, here's a link to try it out! https://lnkd.in/ehzX-zti #gamedev

4moAwesome share, Mariam! I think it's a natural part of growth and progression. If you pull something up you did three years ago and believe it's perfect, did you actually grow and improve as a professional??? Last week I pulled up the video I have on Moonbound's website and I absolutely hate it now 😂. But, we've all got to start somewhere and you can never let the perfect stand in the way of the good enough.
