Do Tesla’s Cybercab & Robovan signal a new era beyond EVs & ADAS? The introduction of a #robotaxi, a robot shuttle, and a humanoid robot marks #Tesla's transition from a #consumerelectric vehicle (#EV) supplier to a broader #robotic #manufacturing and service company. #Tesla, a pioneer in #EVs and advanced driver assistance systems (#ADAS), demonstrated during its We Robot event held on Thursday, October 10, that its camera-only #technology can compete with the advanced robotaxi technologies developed by Waymo, Baidu, Inc. Apollo.io, WeRide, and Cruise, which are equipped with expensive #LiDARs and #radars. The Cruise accident last year raised concerns of a downturn for robotaxis. However, in 2024, Waymo experienced exponential growth and is now delivering over 100,000 paid rides each week, surpassing its most advanced Chinese rival, Baidu-Apollo, which performs around 75,000 rides per week. Tesla’s #robotaxi announcement comes at a time when #Waymo is alone in the U.S. market, leveraging its advantage to grow rapidly and build a strong brand image. A consolidation of the robotaxi market is expected, likely leading to a reduction in the number of players, and possibly a wave of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to combine engineering teams. 🛜 Musk‘ magic 🪄 has gone ? ⚠️ Investors were not impressed by his „We Robot Event“ in the Warner Bros Studio. This location was actually the best of the whole program presented. ❎ Musk has to deliver instead of continuing to promise and distract with useless shows. The Robotaxi presented is a prototype intended for production 2026. It’s design looks like an odd blend of VW XL1 and Cybertruck, being a 2 seater it’s not very practical either. Together with the Robovan both look like vehicles for an outdated science fiction movie. ❎ More important is their FSD technology, which is still far from level 4/5 completion. It’s very unlikely that Tesla will achieve this with their vision based hardware system only. (By the way in 2016 a spin-off Nutonomy started the first commercial Robotaxi program with modified Mitsubishi iMiEV and Renault ZOE in Singapore). Their approach to develop a lowcost AV system with the support of AI doesn’t seem the right way to go. Cameras have clear limitations. ❎ Competitors like Waymo, Cruise, Baidu, Didi and WeRide are all using more advanced multisensing, with Lidar and radar, hardware and have achieved much more progress. OEM like Mercedes-Benz have overtaken as well with an approved level 3 AD system. And also the Chinese OEM are progressing extremely fast. So the clock is ticking for Tesla…..⏱️ Science Police Green Tech Minds #werobot #tesla #fsd #robotaxi

Supply chain and climate risk analysis is a critical aspect of modern business strategy, especially in the context of increasing environmental uncertainties. This analysis involves evaluating the potential impacts of climate-related events on supply chain operations and identifying strategies to mitigate these risks. Physical and transition risks are two key components. In a world where extreme weather events, resource scarcity, and regulatory changes are becoming more frequent, businesses need to understand how their supply chains may be vulnerable to these inter-causal risks. This involves assessing factors such as the geographic location of suppliers, transportation routes, infrastructure resilience, and dependencies on natural resources. With Amplo Global’s AI-led platform, and its comprehensive risk assessment techniques, businesses can identify vulnerabilities within their supply chains and develop strategies to enhance resilience. This may include diversifying supplier networks, investing in alternative transportation methods, adopting sustainable practices, and leveraging technology for real-time monitoring and response. 🚗 Tesla has unveiled its new autonomous robotaxi, the #Cybercab, a futuristic vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals, designed to revolutionize urban transportation. Elon Musk projects its implementation for 2026-2027, promising an affordable price and advanced technology that will change mobility. This presentation leads me to reflect on timing in innovation. It’s not enough to have disruptive technology; #context is key. A clear example in the medical sector is #drug-coated balloons (#DCB), which appeared years ago in #cardiology but are only now finding their place in the market. Why? Because the ecosystem is not always ready to absorb #innovations when they first emerge. 🌍 In Europe, innovations often arrive after being tested in the United States and Asia, which can sometimes be an advantage. But even so, there are many instances where something may work in these pioneering countries for many years before society here is both technologically and socially prepared to adopt it. 🔍 The question then is: Is our infrastructure ready for the Cybercab? Or, as has happened with other innovations, is it not the right time, and will it die from success? But how do we determine if it’s the right time? That’s the big question companies and governments must ask themselves before jumping into the next big technological revolution. 💡 What do you think? Is it better to be a pioneer or wait for technology to mature? #Innovation #AutonomousMobility #BusinessStrategy #Technology #DigitalTransformation https://lnkd.in/dCJMFTwh
