There are a lot of people facing layoffs right now. Many of them are networking to find their next role. Networking may come naturally and be enjoyable for some, but not all. For those who are more introverted, it can cause a lot of anxiety. Please take a moment to respond when someone reaches out to you. If you have any details about the role or other leads, share them. Anyone can be impacted by layoffs at any time. It doesn’t matter if you have 100 followers or 100,000. If you are tenured or entry-level. If you work at a desk or in a factory. If you are a top employee or a poor performer. If you are a manager or individual contributor. If you love your job or want to leave it. If you have a million in savings or are living paycheck to paycheck. If you were the most loyal employee or the least. If you were hardworking or hardly working. What we shouldn’t do? Generalize, assume, or stigmatize those who have been laid off. What we should do? Help, encourage, and support one other through layoffs. Always be kind. I've noticed my LinkedIn feed filled with layoff announcements once again. It's heartbreaking every time. Having experienced layoffs from both sides, I know how devastating and abrupt they can be. It's easy to get overwhelmed by emotions in such situations. First, prioritize your emotional and mental well-being. Build a support system around you. I'm here to offer support to anyone who needs it. Do not spend all day searching for a new role as it can quickly lead to burnout. Divide your day between job searching and activities that bring you joy and recharge you. Personally, I dedicated my mornings (8 am - 12 pm) to searching, applying, and networking on LinkedIn. After that, I made sure to disconnect from the computer and engage in activities I love, like being outdoors, meditating, meeting friends, or taking a walk. Remember, you will get through this challenging time. I'm here to offer any help or support you may need. Stay strong - YOU WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS! #layoffs

Hey LinkedIn fam! With recent layoffs happening in many industries, it's super important to stay strong and take action during this "layoff season." 1. Keep up with what's happening in your industry and talk to your coworkers to see if there might be layoffs at your company. 2. Ask your boss what's going on and use this time to learn new skills and meet new people. 3.Update your resume and LinkedIn profile, and get back in touch with old coworkers and friends. You might also want to take some online classes to learn new things. 4. Try to stick to a routine every day to help you feel more normal and keep you on track with your job search. 5. Don't forget to take breaks and do things that make you happy. 6. Celebrate every little win during your job search, like getting a response to your job application or landing an interview. 7. Look back on how far you've come and be proud of yourself for all the progress you've made. 8. Do things you enjoy and reconnect with hobbies you might have forgotten about. 9. Remember that tough times can help you grow, and try to stay positive about the future. Focus on what you can control, like improving your job search skills and reaching out to friends for support. 10. Stay strong and keep pushing forward. A few months back I decided to take some of my spare time following my own role elimination and spend it talking with, and helping others who also unfortunately found themselves suddenly in transition. Since then I’ve spoken to nearly 200 people, some who have since become friends. We check in on each other and we cheer each other on. It’s been one of the best phases of my career thus far. When it comes to networking, you’ll find no other group more supportive and helpful than those in transition. There’s kindness, understanding, real conversation, and a will to help. And people are landing at an accelerating pace! 16 of my friends have landed just in the past month, even with layoffs continuing to happen. And guess who they want to help first once they've found their spot? If I’ve learned anything I’ve learned this: Don’t let this market or your situation take away from the value you have to offer. All of the symptoms of this job market - ghosting, lack of feedback, rounds of interviews into nowhere - it has nothing to do with you. It’s gutted HR teams overwhelmed with applications, fierce competition created by mass appliers, and a lack of spaces to fill. Focus your job search, find your north star, and most importantly as Marshawn Lynch once so elegantly said, “take care of your mentals”. 🙂 Please reach out if you’d like to chat or are looking for help in your search. Part 3 of 5 things you can do to prepare for unexpected layoffs     I unfortunately was laid off two weeks ago, but I'm so glad that I was pushed to do things that would prepare me for this moment. Here is my third recommendation:   3. Network inside and outside of your industry Always be creating mutually-beneficial relationships with other professionals. You can create these relationships via LinkedIn, networking events, or even 1-on-1 meetings that you schedule. Here's the caveat: Find a way to add value to whoever you meet. The law of reciprocity is real.
