It is time to begin activating this space. This week is the UN General Assembly, and there is no more apposite expression of the Emoji Movie of underwhelm it is proving to be than the half plea of the Secretary General below. This week is also Climate Week in New York, and I have to share the equally uninspiring news both that we at Natural Capital AI are NOT in New York, and that we are Relieved not to be in New York. I never thought I would say that about NYC Climate Week (much less NYC anything), as to me this event has been the abiding best of establishment filters meets wild innovation thinking, has been building, has been finding shape. If ever a planetary boundaries friendly trillion and a half fund were going to be founded and lifted aloft, Mark Carney´s socks bobbing above shoulders up the High Line to the Bloomberg Sheds for eco cups of champagne, NYC Climate Week felt the place. This week, it didn´t feel like the place. From near, or far. This week, our outdoor media takeover plans felt overrun and out of sorts, the idea of deep blue rising tide visuals of whales overlain with wonderfully famous voices, to help those working the problem on the island keep centred in all they do the deep, overhwelming value of the oceans that define its existence, as ours, as they soak up 90% of our emissions to date, imperilling us all - even Heritage Foundation members whose island seems somewhat otherwise defined - and the canopy of overwhelming value of the biosphere, that we have forgotten is being lost. This week, we somehow couldn´t bring ourselves to add to the noise. This week, the best shoutout to New York I saw was from someone burned out from too many circular climate neworking events. (So of course here I am, adding!, here.) Funnily enough, running a valuation of the noise made here, and in places like Climate Week, is precisely the kind of thing our AI will be able to do. Even if I am afraid it may tend to zero. Well, as my generation has heard before - the truth is out there. Looking forward to finding it together.
