Do you want to become an Age-Friendly Public Health Champion? The first step toward embedding and sustaining new practices is to build the capacity of public health professionals to become leaders in healthy aging through training and professional development. Thus, TFAH created an AFPHS Champion designation to recognize public health professionals who have committed to building their knowledge and expertise and have a desire to lead their departments in becoming age-friendly. Requirements: - Attend at least 6 AFPHS Training sessions (pre-recorded or live) - Attend at least 1 of the sessions on ageism. Oh, and did you know that becoming an AFPHS Champion will also meet the first requirement for health department recognition? Great to collaborate withose doing the research for tactical training, like Hussien Jabai, MS, CSCS, TSAC-F, CPT, who gave a great presentation on "Integrating Exercise Science Principles into Job-Simulation Testing Design for Firefighters" assisted by practical insight from firefighter Kathleen Hoff. Hussein's tactical research with Texas A&M University-Commerce allowed us to understand how to leverage clinical assessment, testing, and screening relevance to workforce care programs. explore a dynamic process of analyzing performance variables in firefighter job tasks, and identify keyways for the firefighter and fire departments to implement holistic health and performance monitoring to ensure occupational readiness. Though emphasizing the fire community, these assessment modalities are completely transferable to law enforcement.
