It was great to contribute to the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Strategic Review of the Australian Apprenticeship Incentive System yesterday at the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry office. I provided my insight as a woman in trade, previous apprentice, and on behalf of my employer Kinetic, who currently employs over forty apprentices nationally – a number that is growing. There was consensus in the room regarding many of the obstacles and challenges faced by industries, and the need for targeted solutions to combat the current skill shortage. There are many organisations taking the lead on creating these solutions. Understanding where policy and incentives can leverage or support these organisations and efforts is critical to creating the desired outcome we all work towards - more people entering and succeeding within VET and trade pathways. Through my role at Kinetic, we are developing a national apprentice program to set up our apprentices for success within their apprenticeship, the industry, and their long-term careers. But this alone is not enough to combat the skill shortage. We need to collaborate across businesses and industries to improve the current landscape for all people. If you’d like to contribute your insight and experience to this important review, please check out more information about the Terms of Reference and submission process here: https://lnkd.in/gEvsHcrr Reviewers: Justice Iain Ross AO & Lisa Paul AO PSM #australianapprentices #apprentices #apprenticeship #traineeship #apprenticeincentives #apprenticeprogram #futureworkforce #skillshortage #vetpathways #womenintrade #tradepathways #australianapprenticeincentivesystem

This was a great day with our apprentices! Checking in with them on a one-to-one basis is really important to us as a team - it’s not just about understanding how each apprentice is progressing, but also how they are feeling. #Apprenticeship #Apprentice #Wellbeing #Progress #TeamIACSTandE #TeamIACS
This week’s catch-up with our apprentices looked a little different for #TeamIACSTandE. James Baker, Grace, Laura Hewitt and Rachael Burns headed to Hatton, where they met with our second cohort of apprentices who are all getting vital work experience on a live site. It was a great opportunity to see our apprentices, mentors and partners in action. You could say we got to experience a day in the life of our apprentices, while also testing out our PPE! #PPE #Apprenticeship #Pipelines #PipelineInspection

Nearly $20 million will be allocated to a new pilot program designed to support Queensland Small and Family Businesses and their apprentices. The LNP has unveiled an Apprenticeship Support plan aimed at covering up to half the wages of apprentices. This initiative seeks to provide financial assistance, streamline regulatory requirements, and make it easier to secure apprentices. Initially, the program will be available to 2,000 apprentices employed by small and family businesses in the construction industry. Here's how it'll work: ➡️ 50% of apprentice wages covered for first and second-year apprentices ➡️ 25% of wages covered for third and fourth-year apprentices ➡️ Both during training block periods of four weeks, twice a year. You can read more about this program here: https://bit.ly/4fp0bPI If you're n employer looking to hire an apprentice and want to know more about the initiatives available to you, contact our team today! Promoting the Recruitment Executive Degree Programme with National College of Ireland and highlighting the available SOLAS (An tSeirbhís Oideachais Leanúnaigh agus Scileanna) grant for employers is a great initiative to attract potential apprentices. Additionally, suggesting upskilling opportunities for current employees not only enhances the skills and knowledge of your workforce but also fosters loyalty and retention. Having 42 employers already participating in the ERF/NCI Apprenticeship speaks volumes about the programme’s effectiveness and credibility. Sharing testimonials or success stories from these employers can further encourage others to join the initiative. Check out some of these below. #generationapprentice #recruitment #apprenticeship Janice O'Rourke (Assoc CIPD) Geraldine King Siobhan M Kinsella MBA Anna Douglas Lorraine Mooney

Next week marks the start of National Careers Week ✨ We're looking forward to seeing all of the great work that companies are doing to recruit apprentices and host apprenticeship programs across all sectors as well educating students across the country to inform them of their full range of options once they leave education. 💛 The best time to support an apprentice by NOT paying National Minimum Wage was yesterday, the second best time is today! ✨ But what do we mean, not pay National Minimum Wage? Apprenticeships can be exclusive more than inclusive when met with employers only doing the bare minimum by offering minimum wage particularly to first year apprentices.❌ This means the mid-career career-changers, apprentices from lower socio-economic backgrounds and anyone with financial burdens, care or dependant responsibilities is less likely to apply for and complete an apprenticeship - meaning you could be missing out on the talent of tomorrow, today. ❌ By offering fair pay you'll not only encourage a higher completion rate among your apprentices but they'll be able to focus harder on their studies and be able to perform better in their tasks without increased financial worries.✔ You'll also be contributing to the future of talent recruitment by opening up your hiring pool. ✔ ✨ You can #BackTheFuture by pledging to the Apprentice Decent Wage & join other early adopters in leading the way for more inclusive apprenticeships across the UK. 📣 ✨ Learn more: https://lnkd.in/duB57yJS #Apprenticeships #ApprenticeDecentWagePledge #NationalCareersWeek #Recruitment #ADWP #BackTheFuture #NationalCareersWeek2024

With National Careers Week around the corner & the country in a turbulent position economically, there's never been a better time to #BackTheFuture and futureproof recruitment and reputation for your company by offering apprentices a decent liveable wage. ✨ I'm fully in support of Apprentice Decent Wage Pledge and strongly urge my connections in all sectors to take the time to learn more about creating and fostering inclusive over exclusive apprenticeship programs. Being able to campaign with the team to encourage employers to get involved and seeing the real change that companies such as Baltic Apprenticeships, RS Group plc & CSR Scientific Training are already achieving through commitment to the pledge is nothing short of incredible. 📣 🚀 🚀 🚀 Back the Future today, by not paying apprentices minimum wage tomorrow! Join the other incredible companies and brands who have already pledged and continue to work to create a better world for the future of the workforce. ✨ If you're looking for insightful professionals to connect with around the topic of apprenticeships, training and delivering the most impact with your talent and education programs, I recommend chatting to Robert Green & team. #ApprenticeDecentWagePledge #ADWP #Apprenticeships #BackTheFuture #Recruitment #Education #Business
