Unlocking Success in the Age of AI: Insights from LinkedIn Talent Connect Asia
More leaders I’ve spoken to at the event we hosted, and in the last few months, acknowledge that they cannot rely on old talent playbooks to navigate this evolving era of work. At LinkedIn’s flagship customer event, Talent Connect, yesterday, I gained a deeper insight into what diverse companies are doing – and planning to do – to re-write their playbooks for success in recruiting, developing, and retaining the best talents. After all, human capital is a company’s most important asset.
Here are some key takeaways from the conversations:
1. Embracing AI to evolve talent playbooks: In this new era of work that’s being reshaped by AI, where skills needed for the same job will change by 68% globally by 2030, modern talent strategies must prioritize fostering a culture of continuous learning. This means empowering employees with essential skills and fostering internal mobility. In fact, I am heartened to know that in SEA’s largest economy, Indonesia, a large majority of companies (97%) - more than any other APAC market that LinkedIn studied - are focused on preparing their employees for the future world of work by enhancing their skills and capabilities. Leaders believe that this would lead to increased confidence and job security for their workforce.
2. AI skills, coupled with soft skills, are essential to thrive in the future of work: LinkedIn study shows that an astounding 95% of L&D professionals in SEA believe that human skills are increasingly becoming the most competitive in our economy. In particular, communication skills top LinkedIn’s most in-demand skills list in 2024 across all countries in APAC, including in Indonesia.
How are you or your company gearing up to adapt and thrive in the age of AI?
