They were skeptical but curious… and then converted!
When you have never a tried plant-based burger you may be a little skeptical. But after stopping by our truck one night near the ever-fun Bearded Monk Bar, UNT alumnus Venson and his lovely wife Towanda were more than skeptical.
Then they ate our Jackie Mays Cheeseburgers, and loved them, and then Venson said he was “converted”! Now, we aren’t trying to convert anyone, just have them enjoy and incorporate some plant-based goodness into their lives, and that’s what they did. Thanks very much Venson and Towanda!

It took us 5 years before we decided to take the plunge to list our products into supermarkets, because it is tremendously costly to enter modern trade. The year's sales have been fantastic, mainly because we are helicopter-parents to our brand, ensuring favorable facings and catering the right marketing effort to maximise our brand exposure.
A year ago, we were speaking to a few respectable distributors and comparing the options of having Hey! Chips sell thru distributors (to achieve a better economy for everyone), and to self-distribute (more flexibility and control). As a new brand, we chose the latter in the end. I see the promising sales from a year of hard work, but I also wonder if things could have been done differently.
Wondering how brands can exercise the same brand control if they had gone through a distributor (to counter agency problem)? 🤔
Last night, Hey! Chips received awards from the Dairy Farm Group, being one of the most promising new brands in the supermarket chains, from our amazing sales in the past year!
Our hearts are filled with gratitude toward the amazing people behind the scenes, such as our logistics partner and buyer, that have made this possible for us. Thanks to all who believed in us and supported our cause along the way!! 💝

She didn’t know it was vegan, and then liked it so much she recommended it to others!
Every few months for special events, we would roll the Jackie Mays Burger food truck up to the deluxe Park Place Apartments in Denton, and feed hungry residents and guests. In this case, we served Bianka and Jevon, two new employees of our hosts, who tried our Jackie Mays Cheeseburgers and fries for the first time.
Bianka thought she was eating a pure beef cheeseburger when Jevon let her know it was plant-based! Watch and hear what happens next. Thanks very much Bianka and Jevon!

She was leery but loved it!
Every other week we would drive the Jackie Mays Burger food truck to the Safran corporate offices and serve lunch. In the early days, no one had heard of Jackie Mays, and many if not most of Safran’s ~500 employees at that site were hearty meat-eaters.
But after a few visits, the word spread throughout the building that “you just had to try” these plant-based burgers, and more and more meat-eaters became regulars. And so it was when Keisha visited us, enjoyed our food, and volunteered to be recorded (below). We would see a lot more of her after that. Thank you Keisha!
