**Engagement is Like Conducting a Choir** 1. **Listening and Understanding**: A great conductor listens carefully to each voice and understands its strengths. Similarly, effective engagement requires listening to and understanding the unique perspectives and contributions of each participant. 2. **Inclusivity**: Every voice in the choir matters, from the sopranos to the basses. Engagement should be inclusive, valuing the input of all stakeholders and ensuring everyone feels heard and appreciated. 3. **Adaptability**: A conductor adjusts the tempo and dynamics based on the choir's performance. Effective engagement requires adaptability, being open to feedback, and making adjustments as needed to keep everyone motivated and on track. Are you familiar with this famous opening line from the soap opera Days of Our Lives? “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of Our Lives” Do you see time as finite or expandable? You know time is precious, but do you act like it every day? Daily Shake Up No. 892 highlights the nature of time as both finite and infinite. Limited and expandable. Precious and forgotten. We all say we want more time, but the truth is we would squander extra time the same ways we squander the time we have. Time is not the problem – it’s our approach to time that’s the problem. We say time is precious, but do we act like it’s precious? We say time is precious, but are we typically present in each moment of time. We say time is precious, do we notice and learn from the situation where time stands still or disappears? Time is precious but only if we act like it’s precious. Time is expandable and can be amplified when we are present in and with the time we have. Don’t wish for more time. Practice making more of the time you have. #SnowGlobeLeadership #NischwitzGroup #SnowGlobeLiving #Leadership #Time #Presence #BePresent

Have you ever experienced a Chinese opera? Recently, Sarah and I stumbled upon an ancient Wind God festival at Tainan, Taiwan. It was Sarah’s first time attending, and we decided to immerse ourselves in this unique celebration. Chinese operas are captivating performances that blend dance, song, and martial arts. They often narrate popular stories, drawing the audience into a world of tradition and artistry. Interestingly, storytelling plays a crucial role in sales as well. When presenting solutions to clients, how you convey your message matters. Crafting a narrative that resonates with their struggles and demonstrates how your solutions can address their needs builds trust and understanding.

Good to hear Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart discussing Streetwise Opera's recently posed question on The Rest is Politics. Streetwise Opera is an opera company that enables people who’ve experienced homelessness to find inspiration and empowerment while they rebuild their lives and identities- https://lnkd.in/encz7QEs Well done to all those highlighting the evidence for the power of creativity, and backing up the cross-governmental recommendations of the #CreativeHealthReview. Published by the NCCH and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health and Wellbeing (APPG AHW), the Creative Health Review offers a set of recommendations on how policy can embrace creative health and sets out the development of a cross-departmental strategy. The Review has gathered evidence that shows the benefits of creative health in relation to major current challenges, and examples of where this is already working in practice. People will treat you the way you want to be treated. Being timely is not just a matter of punctuality but a reflection of your professionalism and how others perceive you. For every appointment with my big brother Dike Chukwumerije, I have always arrived at the venue before him. It's simply because of who he is - he doesn't play with time. I didn't need him to tell me this, I just knew it from the way he handles his programs. Whenever he organized his stage shows, called Open Stage, in different parts of the country, he always started on time, often even a few minutes earlier than scheduled. I recall when we wanted to hold our first music program at Symphonies, I approached Dike because I wanted him to participate. During our discussions, among the many questions he asked, the main one was, 'Will you start on time?' I confidently answered, 'Yes' and even if there were just two people in the hall that day, I would have started. Many Nigerians tend to be tardy to programs because we do not respect time. However, I have observed that in almost all of Dike's shows, people are seated before the show commences. One advantage I have noticed is that being timely makes people take you more seriously. I truly mean it when I say I always arrive early, and I believe he appreciates it and can predict how much time we will spend together before he attends to other commitments on his schedule. So, could you be timely? I still get nervous I have been on stages my entire life. I have danced at major opera houses in front of thousands of people. And I still get nervous. One of the biggest misconceptions about being a speaker is that you have to eliminate fear. Not only is this not true, but fear is a good thing. You feel nervous because you care. Your fear is there to remind you that you are doing good work. Being a speaker means coexisting with fear. It means using your fear as fuel so that you can have the impact you desire. Send this to someone who needs to shift their mindset around fear. #TheBigTalk #YourVoiceMatters #coexistwithfear #fearasfuel #InfluentialVoice #publicspeakingcoachnyc

#INSTANTTURNOFF: Audience Amnesia I remember being at a conference in Budapest where the Conference Chair welcomed us all to Bucharest. Instant Turn off for the audience. There was another Gala evening at Lyon Opera where the well-known TV personality opening proceedings told us how lucky we were to be in this magnificent Parisian Opera House. (She was booed : Lyonnais HATE being compared to Parisians). Some speakers seem to have selective amnesia, when it comes to remembering the audience. It is no good talking about gangsta rap if your audience is mostly made up of Boomers. No good talking about dialling a phone number with a round finger gesture if your audience is GEN Z. Consider who your audience actually are before you take the stage : remember the importance of involving them, asking pertinent questions, and making them feel like active participants rather than passive observers. And especially .. get the names right ! When this little devil was at school in England, my unusual surname was so often mispronounced …that I had to come to live in France for it to be pronounced correctly ! If you are naming people … please ask them beforehand how their name is pronounced, or you will turn them off for life ! #publicspeakingtips #communication #conferences #leadership

What does the song Bohemian Rhapsody, by Queen, teach us about leadership? 🎙 Leadership is inviting the sound of a voice other than your own. Harmony gives music the potential for new ideas and variety. It brings distinct notes and voices that, when played together, deliver a sound that resonates and moves us. This song pushed boundaries of harmony and sound. As you think of it now, you can hear the voices come together in various key changes, an ode to opera, followed by an instrumental piece that has you wanting to head bang as they did in the movie Wayne’s World. It’s intense, yet, beautiful sound made it memorable. As you enter this week, make what you create with others memorable. 🎶 Start by: Listening to understand, leaning into curiosity, and, giving space for others to be heard. It is not about one voice – it is a blend of all voices. As you solve problems, make decisions, and strategize this week, remember to ask yourself: Who else can I invite to this conversation? #growthmindedmonday
