Leading Edge Energy’s Post

In our September 2024 Electricity Market Review, we reported how electricity spot prices went down significantly compared to August. Wholesale futures prices were also stable due to cool weather, low demand and an abundance of renewable energy coming into the grid. We also touched on a few topics including the following: • AGL’s new method for powering Bayswater coal-fired plant up and down much faster thanks to a strategy developed in the UK. • More renewable energy records are being set in Australia. • An additional 7 GW of renewable energy capacity will be added, including 3.1 GW from rooftop solar • NSW granted an operator’s licence to the ACEREZ consortium to build 240 KM of transmission lines in a $3.2 billion-worth project. • The commencement of the Tesla Megapack Battery installation in the Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub in Victoria. alongside other relevant developments across the NEM.
