We now accredit Association of Colleges Sport's Student Leadership Programme. 430 college students across the UK are learning to lead through sport. They create their own projects, run events, and help more students get active. Students complete a workbook to show their progress, which gives them a record of their skills and achievements to share with future employers. Our Director of Innovation and Standards, Lucy Supperstone, said: "‘We are thrilled to be working with Association of Colleges to accredit their Student Leadership Programme. Students will now be recognised with an accredited award that acknowledges their endeavours through the programme, including the development of their leadership skills." “Often we look outward to see what’s wrong with everybody else,” says SJSU Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership Veneice Guillory-Lacy, who also serves as director of the SJSU Lurie College of Education’s master’s in educational leadership program, which offers a concentration on emancipatory K-12 school leadership (MELS). “But in [our] program, we start with ourselves first. We look within our hearts and minds, and once we address our positionalities, our privileges, our backgrounds and where we come from, we see the assets we bring; our community cultural wealth. Leadership is the currency for Academy admissions. Team captain is an important role that you should strive to achieve. Most applicants that are admitted to the Academies do, in fact, hold the position of team captain. If you are unable to obtain team captain, that makes your other non-athletic leadership positions even more important.
