On Nov 5, 2024, the annual edition of the Orange Project Manager (OPM) communities took place, merging for the first time with the annual day for certified project managers (PMI), at Orange Gardens and remotely. Over 250 program directors and project managers from all Orange divisions participated in this event. A highlight of the day was the awarding of 24 OPM 2024 certifications, presented by Bruno Zerbib and OPM sponsors Jean Louis Le Roux Christian Luginbühl Didier Teyssèdre Cédric GARCIA, alongside with Orange talent managers and our partner Jean-Laurent RILLY from École Polytechnique Executive Education. The main theme of the day was the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on project management. Numerous testimonies were shared regarding advancements in this area across different divisions of the Orange group. A round table brought together Didier Gaultier from Orange Business and Joachim Fléchaire from Orange Innovation, discussing strategy and AI-related activities, as well as the tools available for Orange project managers. They addressed questions such as how to combine traditional and generative AI approaches, and the importance of quality data collection for effective AI use. dominique poissonnet from École Polytechnique emphasized the significance of emotional intelligence in these discussions, reminding attendees that humans are still in charge. Didier Gaultier presented a four-step methodology to successfully support their clients in the implementation of their AI projects, knowing how to start from good use cases and use the right technology, considering also cultural, ethical, and corporate social responsibility impacts. Practical workshops allowed participants to explore various themes concretely, such as the use of AI in projects and the societal impact of AI combined with a conference by Faycal Boujemaa, one of our leading AI expert. Other topics included testimonies from Fabienne BEOLET, Enora Rivalan Ortolan, and Christophe Rufin of the exceptionally challenging Paris 2024 project. Telecommunications managed by Orange played a vital role in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, ensuring an extraordinary and unforgettable success. Gérald P. and I provided updates on the activities of project managers communities within the group, discussing the implementation of adaptive governance. Steve Jarrett, the group’s chief AI officer and sponsor of the day, concluded by sharing his daily use of AI tools to enhance operational efficiency. A big thank you to the entire organizing team and all participants for making this day a memorable moment for project management within the Orange group: Gérald P. Thank you very much, Laurent, for sharing this detailed recap of the annual OPM event! I truly appreciate the invitation to participate as a speaker and the opportunity to contribute to the discussions around the emerging role of artificial intelligence in project management. It was inspiring to witness the enthusiasm across Orange, from program directors to project managers, as we explore how AI, still in its early stages for project management, can shape our practices in the future. Congratulations to the entire organizing team for creating such a memorable and impactful event for the OPM community!

Thank you Laurent Ponthou for this great event with a set of great contributors. When I challenged you on how OPM programme should include AI, I did not expect such a result. Great transversal and at scale contribution to Orange upskilling effort. Nathalie Brugeas Céline BERGEZ Steve Jarrett Charles Brisbois Bruno Zerbib
