200 “nails” a day in the head? AI can help with that.   I recently read an article in which a Supply Chain leader for a leading automotive OEM described the difficulty of their role today.    “We are all voodoo dolls in supply chain logistics, receiving 200 “nails” a day in our heads …”   What I believe he meant was that there are so many potential threats and risks to the supply chain today that it’s simply impossible to monitor and manage them all … at least not without a very large team. As we know, the automotive supply chain has experienced several major shocks in recent years and – with the stop-start transition to electric mobility – many established OEMs are feeling the strain of having to operate two largely different supply chains (for ICE and EV).   This strain comes at a time when they are facing increased competition from new entrants and growing pressure (backed by legislation) to reduce environmental impact. In short, they need to minimize risk and improve competitiveness, but without compromising on their #sustainability missions.   This is a major, existential challenge, especially given the complexity and distributed nature of today’s automotive supply chains.   This is where partnership with innovative startups and the application of new technology can have a dramatic positive impact.   And this is exactly what we’re doing with Prewave – a provider of supply chain intelligence services.   Using the power of AI, we’re able to map 1.3 million global suppliers, analyze 150+ risk categories, ‘make use of’ data and information in 400+ languages, and deliver real-time insights to supply chain professionals.   It might not prevent every ‘nail’ from heading your way, but it does mean that you’ll be prepared and able to take evasive action.   At the Paris Motor Show recently, I had the chance to talk to Prewave CEO and Co-founder, Harald Nitschinger about his impressions of the challenges currently being faced by automotive OEMs, and how our collaboration and use of AI-powered solutions can help automotive OEMs to efficiently scale up their monitoring, management, and risk-mitigation capabilities.   Check it out   Capgemini Automotive
