I can't right now because this other thing has come up and I have to focus on/pay for that instead... I’m overwhelmed… (subtext – I want to drop out) And even when (especially when) they say YES to your offer and then they go radio silent. All of the above examples are not the time to faun, people please and pander like you keep defaulting to. Love this! I use the example - remember as a kid when you would go to a friends house and their mum (usually) would offer you a drink - and you would always politely decline - even if dying of thirst! But when she offers again - you generally accept. This same psychology occurs in business... for lots of reasons as you say - people decline or are not a 'F*** yes' right away... the art is in making them comfortable to accept.
