I have been craving for a new read on innovation, and I came across this article in SSIR https://lnkd.in/eaxZE7MZ. In a similar line as Dan (Danny) Breznitz "Innovation in Real Places"(which I fully recomend!) this book by Neil Lee challenges the notion that high-tech innovation lead to better outcomes for everyone.

A team of 2-3 participants can participate in Idea Voyager. 2. Each team's presentation must be completed within 5-6 minutes 3. Having a laptop is mandatory for every team participating. 4. Network/internet usage will be strictly prohibited. Round 1: Idea Adventure The participants must present their ideas in front of the judge within the provided time. The presentation will be evaluated by the presentation explanation and the explanation given to questions asked by the judge.The best ideas in terms of the marks evaluated will go through to the next round. Round 2: Make It Poster In this round the participants will have to make a poster using canva or any editing app without using internet for the given topic. The poster will be used to pitch the ideas and marketing ideas should be explained to the judge based on the explanation and poster design the top 2 teams will be selected as winners and runner up. Let's Talk About Where Innovation Really Comes From... We're always trying to move forward and get better at things, but sometimes, we don't think about where new ideas really come from. I'm excited to talk about something important to me: Innovation is a human creation with no antecedent. I believe innovation comes from three main places: Need, Usage, and Serendipity. NEED: This is when we see a problem and try to solve it. For example, we need clean energy, so people came up with solar and wind power. Or, we need to see doctors easily, so now we have online health visits. USAGE: Sometimes, we find new ways to use things we already have. Like Velcro—it was made because someone saw how burrs stick to animal fur and thought it could be useful for us. SERENDIPITY: This is a fancy word for lucky surprises. Some great inventions weren't planned. Like Post-it notes—they were invented by accident when someone was trying to make a strong glue but made a weak one instead. I'm curious: ·        Have you ever solved a big problem and found a new idea? ·        Do you know something we use in a way it wasn't intended to be used? ·        Have you ever found a great idea by accident? I'm sharing some thoughts on how these three things lead to new inventions. Let's talk about it. What's your story with innovation? Innovation isn't just about making things. It's about being able to 'see the unseen,' and sometimes, it's just about being lucky.
