Target says it will fill 100,000 seasonal roles this year, roughly matching its staff-up strategy over the past three years. The retail giant says the additional staff will work in stores or in supply chain hubs to increase gift-buying and fulfillment efficiency. Other retailers, such as Bath & Body Works and Burlington Stores, plan to beef up their seasonal ranks by 30,000 and 24,000, respectively. It's staying on 'target' with its hiring goals. Shoppers may be worn out with inflation, but Target still plans to hire 100,000 seasonal workers as it prepares for the busy holiday season. The hiring will span from stores to the supply chain and sticks to the hiring plan the retailer has had for the past three years. We may be in September, but it will soon feel like the holidays. Target like many of its retail rivals such as Walmart and Amazon will soon be pushing holiday discounts and promotions. Seasonal hiring is an important bellwether especially this year since many shoppers are planning to scale back. Retailers are trying to get ahead of that with early discounts, but Bath & Body Works has already said it would hire 30,000 seasonal employees, which may be a good sign on the economic and labor front. Major retailers are starting to prep incoming hires as they plan for the holiday season which is just around the corner! Companies like Target, ALDI USA, and Bath & Body Works are stepping up by offering thousands of seasonal jobs that could lead to permanent positions. The interesting part is the shift of where the work lays. Companies like Bath & Body Works have noted that they will break the job opportunities into two separate buckets: part-time sales associates for its stores and full-time employees for roles such as merchandise handlers, processors, high lift operators, and outbound loaders as its distribution centers.
