A great session yesterday run by Gary Seaman on the latest grocery shopper insights from the UK. Of particular interest to me was the level of loyalty and satisfaction shoppers have with discounters in the UK, established brands are no longer the default option and consumers are ever-more prioritising what they put into their bodies with a growing interest in eating more foods that improve gut health and a renewed focus on reducing Ultra Processed Foods. For all folks doing their grocery shopping at Costco or anywhere else, please, please choose what not to eat to stay healthy and most importantly heart healthy. The trade-offs of paying less to live less(I don't even know if that is a real trade-off) looks superficially compeling, but it also true that we do not decide on how much to pay. Life takes the decision and we often think that it is out of our hands. I am talking about these marginal price differences that we often skip while shopping either out of negligence or pure pseudo-fear. It is time to take real actions on our health. Great resources from Dr. Eric Berg.

Snacking trends in the month of May reveal a significant rise in frequent snacking, with 27% of shoppers now snacking multiple times a day, compared to 15% last year. Afternoons and evenings are the peak times for snacking. Grocery stores lead snack purchases at 85%, followed by mass retailers and club stores. Taste, cravings, and convenience are key factors in choosing snacks, while sales and coupons drive impulse buys. Health remains important, with many consumers avoiding high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, and trans fats. Shoppers wish for more healthy yet delicious snack options, including plant-based cookies, low-fat chips, and high-protein, low-sugar treats. Woolworths is getting hammered by #ALDI. After looking at the differing quality/prices - I can't justify shopping at @woolworths again. The brand is lazy, unresponsive. This cookware is pure iron. It will treat anaemia and Iow haemoglobin count and I can have 3 pots for $60. The one shown is just $19. Iron cook pots retail for $89 each at speciality stores. Besides a marketer - I am also qualified diet aide - knowledgeable in treating over 122 serious physical and mental health conditions with nutrition In all areas of the fresh food dept - Woolworths I playing catch up again. A big mistake the brand has made is to over rely on advertising, digital marketing, branding and customer service - these give you time - they don't give you equity which is value in the mind of your consumer. Step one for Woolies is to educate ita marketing department and show them how far they have drifted from realty. A big brand and a big name is not a guarantee anything - it's the small, smart and nimble and lean brands that run away with the cheese.

Are we finally seeing an end to pandemic snacking? Over the last several years, Americans have relied on intermittent snacking to replace the concept of “three meals a day.” As the economy fluctuated and people became too busy to sit down and eat, they focused on the quick and easy method to find their nutrition where they could. But the pandemic is behind us now and people could easily revert to what we used to know. So, what do you think? Which trend have you preferred? #Snacking #ConsumerSatisfaction #Trends

Can increased cost of living pressures have an upside to our health? Perhaps. Sales figures from global fast food giant McDonald's has shown decrease in sales of fast food across the globe, largely attributed to people eating less fast food in order to save money. If the Big Mac can be used as an index for purchasing power parity, perhaps Big Mac sales can be used to how much we stuff ourselves with junk food. Hopefully people can stay off the junk foods once they start their healthier eating habits. #health #healthcare #mcdonalds https://lnkd.in/g-ydzm82
