🌟 Reflecting on an Insightful Event 🌟 I had the opportunity to attend an informative online event hosted by Young Professionals focused on accounting and degree apprenticeships, where industry experts shared valuable insights into the evolving landscape of finance and career preparation. Key takeaways included: The importance of mastering the STAR technique (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for acing interviews, especially when showcasing problem-solving skills and achievements. How degree apprenticeships offer the perfect balance between practical work experience and academic learning, allowing students to "earn while they learn." Insightful career paths in accounting, from audit to tax and beyond, with an emphasis on digital skills being crucial for future success. The value of networking and gaining early exposure to real-world business environments. A huge thanks to the Young Pro team and Ollie, James, Charlotte, Hussein and Ayeesha for providing such a wealth of knowledge. Excited to put these tips into action! #Accounting #DegreeApprenticeships #STARTechnique #CareerDevelopment #FinanceCareers

If you’re worried about not having secured an apprenticeship…my simple advice to you is don’t be! 💪 I was forced into a gap year when my a-level results 📜 didn’t meet PwC’s entry requirements. I took a year out, improved my grades, developed my soft skills, and secured a better apprenticeship offer at the NAO 🏢 the following year. Moral of the story is don’t fixate on the rejection 📉, keep it moving, and focus on the solution. 📈 What is meant for you, will reach you even it is beneath two mountains. 🏔 🏔 What is not meant for you, won't reach you even if it is between your two lips. #apprenticeships #rejection #careers #alevels #btec

We're committed to supporting our colleagues continuous learning and development and have a range of opportunities that can help our employees reach their full potential! We offer workshops, formal courses, coaching and Talent Development and Management Development programmes. We can also offer our employees apprenticeship opportunities at different points in their career journey. Wing-See, our Head of Internal Audit, recently completed a level 7 Master of Business Administration (MBA) apprenticeship. She said, "Completing an apprenticeship isn't something you do once and forget about it once you've finished. Gaining the qualification has made me realise that I have so much more to give in my role. Post-apprenticeship I have developed the vision and strategy for my team and I know I have the tools to achieve it. "Balancing work, study and family - not to mention throwing covid into the mix too - made it hard, but I built up a high level of resilience. I often look back at what I achieved in that time and it gives me the self belief that I can get through though times!” #LearningAtWorkWeek #LearningAndDevelopment #Apprenticeship

We recognise that a common challenge of growing, forward-thinking businesses is a shortage of skills. Apprenticeships are a great solution to consider not only from a cost perspective. With an apprenticeship, you can shape the apprentice to work in the methods that work best for your company. They grow with your company, gaining deeper insight throughout their apprenticeship. It's one to consider if recruitment isn't delivering long-term success or is costing you more than you budgeted for. If you are short of skills in your finance functions, you could outsource those needs to your accountant, be it on a temporary or permanent basis. It is always worth an exploratory discussion if you have not considered it before. We will always provide a free, no-obligation quote for any work so you know exactly what you are committing to. #Accountant #Outsourcing #Skills

Ey have now released their degree apprenticeships. Last year I got my offer from EY so let me help you get yours. (No you don’t have to DM me anything.) A lot of people say to learn about the company you’re applying for but no one really says how or to what extent. A misconception is that all you need to do is learn about the role and read the “about us”. It’s important to still do that but to set yourself apart I recommend you go way above and beyond. One simple way of doing this is by finding those 100+ page reports and reading them.📖 And keep reading them till you have a portfolio of points which you can then use to enforce the points you make for either being a good candidate or why you decided to apply. For example: I believe I’m a good fit for “company” because after reading “ABC report” I noted how “name” who is the “position” said “quote” and this is something I really resonate with “why and example”. If you’re not applying for the Big 4 you can still very much use that frame work.🙌 Let me know if this is something you’re considering using.🤝 #degreeapprenticeships #EY #application

‘No one sets out to be an accountant’ 🌟I can certainly agree with this statement. I have spent a lot of time recently talking about my journey and one of the most common questions I get asked is ‘Why did you choose to be an accountant’ The truth is: I DIDN’T! ❗️When taking my A Levels I enjoy economics, and at the time there was only one economics apprenticeship which involved writing an essay (not of my strong suits due to my dyslexia) so I got rejected. ❗️It was back to the drawing board! I naively thought at 17 a tax apprenticeship would be the closest option to economics (I was clearly wrong). However, I was too late in applying so I was rejected from those apprenticeships too! ⭐️There were vacancies for an audit apprenticeship, not knowing what audit meant I applied and was successful and that started my journey to becoming an accountant. Did you become an accountant by accident or on purpose? #apprentice #apprenticeships #apprenticeshipjourney
