It never fails to shock and disturb me and others that there are now 150,000 unregistered providers in the NDIS -governed by nothing but a Code of Conduct - and they are the fastest growing part of the scheme. In Q4FY23 the amount of payments going to this group grew by 50% on prior year . Yes, 50%. Being unregistered means no reporting obligations, no auditing by the scheme that you are billing and no transparency for the Regulator. Plus this group can charge the same prices as the 15,000 Providers that continue to be registered which all carry extra costs to stay compliant . Yes, same prices . On a Sunday that hour of support costs $120 an hour - no qualifications needed. Thats why the NDIS Review said enough was enough. The daily hysteria by some advocates about this being the death of choice and control in the scheme is really disappointing after 5 years of Royal Commission plus this Review process where so many voices were heard by highly credible people with plenty of lived experience . It’s time now to bring the NDIA Review recommendations to life and get the scheme sustainable . #ndis

Did you know that registered NDIS providers need to commence an NDIS re-registration application every three years? This includes undertaking an audit against the NDIS Practice Standards that apply to the particular registration. If you're a registered provider, visit our website at https://bit.ly/3QkEUum to make sure you understand your audit requirements and know what you need to do by when. My perspective is that larger businesses have no margin between what they can claim from the NDIS and what their expenses are. They obviously need to pay wages, superannuation and insurance etc. In addition - larger companies also pay for a CEO, office rent, receptionists, scheduling staff, accounting staff & team leaders etc. These expenses are greatly reduced in a small business working from home where many of these roles are covered by the owner with minimal help. This is why a small efficient business can survive whilst a larger business cannot.
Yesterday a large NDIS provider sent out a termination of service agreement to their Plan Management participants. Knowing this provider, I know the CEO is very across anything NDIS and is always on the front forward. I have also been informed they will be also giving notice to their Support Coordination department and participants also. With large companies making significant business decisions, I think it's safe to say, we are about to see some turbulent times within the NDIS framework. With documents going missing constantly within the NDIS, staff not being able to give accurate answers around PACE, applications taking longer than the outlined wait time and plan reviews all over the place, what does this really look like for the NDIS? How will participants be supported through these changes? Very concerned that the people who need the support the most are going to be completely derailed in progress of their lives.
