TRUE WISDOM IS ESSENTIAL Proverbs 24:3-6 Wisdom is essential if we are to live a life that is pleasing to God and is fruitful. All of life is dependent on wise decisions. "The wise man built his house upon a rock," and that Rock is Christ Jesus (cf. Matt.7:24-27; 1 Cor. 10:4). God is the source of wisdom, not the world. A wise person knows that he needs other people in his life to help him make right decisions. We are a fool when we don’t supplement our study of scriptures and every day decisions by first asking God and then when we are not clear on a decision to run it by others also. It is good to have godly friends who have knowledge in areas we don’t and can give wise counsel. Where do you get yours? Proverbs 24:3-6 Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; 4 By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches. 5 A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength; 6 For by wise counsel you will wage your own war, And in a multitude of counselors there is safety.

These powerful words mark the beginning of the Bible!  We know that God is the key to a fulfilling life and destiny. But why follow God? Here are seven reasons to consider:  1️⃣ He is the Alpha and Omega. 2️⃣ He is the source of all things, including your purpose. 3️⃣ He is the Almighty and all-powerful Creator. 4️⃣ He is Eternal and Unchanging. 5️⃣ His love and mercy are never-ending. 6️⃣ He is indescribably beautiful. 7️⃣ His greatness is beyond measure. So why do you need to prioritize God? Firstly, by knowing  Him deeply you will uncover wonderful truths that will bring meaning, understanding, and wisdom. As Jeremiah 33:3 affirms, "Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known." A second reason is that, in experiencing God, you will experience a life that is abundant, successful, and full of blessings. When God calls us to serve Him, He will also give us the wisdom and understanding we need to fulfill the task. Is there a task God is calling you to do today, but you feel inadequate to take it up? Today's devotion centers on the pursuit of understanding and knowledge, as emphasized in Proverbs 18:15. This verse highlights the discerning proactive role in seeking knowledge and wisdom. The pursuit of wisdom requires an active engagement of the heart and mind. It involves a willingness to learn, grow, and expand our understanding of God and His ways. The discerning heart is not content with superficial knowledge but seeks to delve deeper into the truths of God's Word and His creation. Similarly, the ears of the wise are attuned to the voice of wisdom, always listening and seeking out opportunities to gain knowledge and understanding. They recognize that wisdom is not static but dynamic, continually seeking to acquire new insights and perspectives that align with God's truth. As followers of Christ, we are called to be diligent seekers of wisdom and understanding. This involves studying God's Word, engaging in thoughtful reflection, and being open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. As we pursue knowledge with a discerning heart and wise ears, we position ourselves to grow in wisdom and walk in righteous paths. Therefore, let us approach the pursuit of wisdom with humility, diligence, and perseverance, knowing that true understanding comes from God alone. Amen🙏

Others trace it back to “Alah,” meaning to declare or swear. Both convey God's immense power and authority. Alah also highlights God's faithfulness to His promises. When you think of God, his nature and what he is really like, what comes to mind? Many people naturally see him as kind and loving. He is mysterious. I find there are many who believe He is not easy to please. Unfortunately, many see Him as being uncaring. Since the Bible tells us that human beings are made and designed in the image of God, then we posses a number of His characteristics. We can think, reason, and communicate because God can think, reason and communicate. We have a personality and emotions just as He does. He made us to be relational beings because He is a relational God. We know this to be true because if we were not relational beings, there would be no such thing as loneliness. I might point out that this is why the Trinity is so important to grasp and understand, because God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit have been in relationship throughout eternity. You see Jesus spend time with God the Father and pray, for instance, in John 17. In Luke 4:1 you see Jesus being led around in the wilderness by the Holy Spirit. Finally, we are told that He is a God of love and therefore as His image bearer, we are able to love. However, it strikes me that there is one characteristic of God that no one really thinks about when considering His nature. We are told He is a God that is full of joy.
