Samantha Molnar, Graham Johnson, Kristi Potter, and I have a new paper, Opportunities and Challenges in the Visualization of Energy Scenarios for Decision-Making, https://lnkd.in/guwEDjtG that reviews common visualization designs used in energy scenario studies and discusses their effectiveness in facilitating decision-making. Scenario studies are a key technique for analyzing potential pathways toward future energy system decarbonization, and the results are used by diverse stakeholders such as utilities, policymakers, and community organizations. Our paper explores how visualization can enhance the analysis of these complex, long-term decisions. Sam will present this work at EnergyVis 2024 on October 14th. #IEEEVIS #EnergyVis #DataVisualization #ScenarioAnalysis #EnergySystems #DecisionSupport

In two fresh reports by Energy Innovation, GridLab and UC Berkeley highlight the opportunities of reconductoring with advanced conductors. In many cases it can be the fastest and lowest cost to increase transmission capacity. The policy challenges are also discussed, and solutions are suggested. Kudos to the research team of Emilia Chojkiewicz, Umed Paliwal, Nihit Abhyankar, Duncan Callaway and Amol Phadke of the Goldman School of Public Policy UC Berkely and Casey Baker and Ric O'Connell of GridLab.

I am happy to share that I presented our research work last week at the CIRED (International Community on Electricity Distribution) Workshop on #Power_system_Resilience in #Chicago Our topic of #publication is "Optimization of Hydrogen-Based Management System for Enhancing Distribution Network Resilience"! I am very thankfull to Professor Fabrizio Pilo and Simona Ruggeri for their invaluable support, motivation and collaboration on this impactful project! We explored a #hydrogen (H₂)-based #resilience_management_system as a sustainable alternative to traditional battery storage, aimed at #enhancing power system resilience during extended outages. The #H₂ Resilience system was #compared against a #battery_storage solution for a 96-hour period, including a #26_hour_power_outage. The H₂ system emerges as a #sustainable_solution with minimal space requirements, making it a strong for #long_term energy storage and resilience in power networks. #CIRED2024 #ChicagoWorkshop #PowerSystemResilience #HydrogenEnergy #EnergyTransition #SustainableEnergy #SmartGrid #GreenHydrogen #Innovation #RenewableEnergy
