A new paper is finally published after 3 years from completion of the work! It is the first study in the world about adjoint sensitivity modelling (used in so-called 4D-Var data assimilation) in the presence of fully nonlinear internal waves. An important implication is that internal-wave data assimilation is likely to require new methodology, especially on continental shelves.
