Today, I’m excited to highlight an incredible local business, The Hive FdL Bar & Venue , where owner Erika has created a welcoming space for everyone and continuously finds ways to give back to our community! 🙌❤️ Erika has been a supporter of Fondy Famous from the start—even joining the podcast early on, when I was still finding my footing! 🎙️ She’s graciously hosted our networking group, actively engaged in community events, and has even donated gift cards to help boost the reach of the nonprofits I feature. It’s businesses like The Hive that remind me why local support matters so much! ✨ The Hive is a versatile venue that’s perfect for showers, weddings, events, and fundraisers—or simply for a fun night out with friends. 🍸 What makes it extra special? Erika’s commitment to inclusivity. With a variety of mocktails available and a no-pressure approach to drinking, The Hive creates a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone. 🙏💛 In a time when it can feel awkward to ask for a nonalcoholic drink, you’ll never feel out of place ordering one here. 🥤 If you’re looking for a wonderful spot to host your next event, or just want to enjoy an evening out in a vibrant, welcoming space, I highly recommend checking out The Hive. 🥂✨ Be sure to follow them to stay up to date on the amazing events they offer! Drop a comment below if you’ve been to The Hive, or share a positive experience you’ve had there! ⬇️And be sure to check out our blog on them, below! #FondyFamousSupporter #FondduLacWi #FondyFamous #SmallBusinessSupport #WisconsinSmallBusiness #SupportLocal #TheHiveFDL #WomanOwnedBusiness

As the Halloween season creeps in, it's an excellent time for small businesses to collaborate on fun, festive community events that create a lasting impact. Imagine a haunted charity drive, a neighbourhood-wide trick-or-treat trail, or a spooky street fair where local businesses can showcase their products. Small businesses can maximize visibility, attract more foot traffic, and engage with the community meaningfully by working together. These events provide entertainment and strengthen the bond between companies and residents. Partnering with other businesses for a Halloween-themed event boosts your marketing efforts, too! From shared social media promotion to pooling resources for decorations, prizes, and giveaways, collaboration makes the event bigger and better for everyone involved. Not only does it increase the fun factor, but it also creates opportunities for cross-promotion, growing customer bases, and brand recognition. Hosting a joint event with a charity element—like collecting donations or hosting a spooky costume contest—shows your commitment to the community and leaves customers with a positive impression of your brand. Get in on the Halloween spirit this season and work with fellow local businesses to create a frightfully fun community event that benefits your business and your neighbours! #ABDC #cityofPG #takeonPG #indigenous #indigenousbusiness #indigenousentrepreneurs #community #entrepreneur #smallbusiness #homebusiness

Has there been a more challenging and volatile fundraising sector in recent years than community and events? First it was pandemic-driven event cancellations en-masse, followed swiftly by the birth of the virtual event, some of which were wildly successful. Now, with cost-of-living rises, event participants aren't too keen to ask friends and family for sponsorship... More widely, our research indicates that few events really 'stand out' to participants, suggesting charities need to consider whether their product portfolios match the market opportunity. That's a lot of change to wrestle with, but the core events promise - connecting with others and doing something interesting for a good cause - remains as relevant as ever. It's been a minute since my last #WhatamIreadingWednesday posts but while my pace may have slowed down a bit there will be a few more posts as I am getting caught up and ready for #SummerReading As event season slows down a little bit for nonprofits until the fall I wanted to share about "The Art of Gathering" By @Pryia Parker! This book really changed how I thought about events, not just fundraising events but also small gatherings and especially trainings/conferences. Some of the key takeaways were: *Be Very Clear What the Purpose is and just networking isn't a purpose but what or who do you hope people come aways with or knowing *Clearly communicate the purpose to attendees before, during and after the gathering *Create clear social rules and boundaries and don't be afraid to enforce those rules to make people feel comfortable *Ending a gathering on time, clearly and well is just as important if no more than how you start These are just a few nuggets that I gleaned from a book that every person who enjoys gathering and connecting people should read! What is your favorite tip for gathering people? #nonprofitlife #nonprofitevents #Gathering #nonprofitfundraising #events
