Day 9: Developing Strong Paragraphs Paragraphs are the building blocks of your academic paper, and on Day 9, we're diving into the techniques that will help you develop strong, cohesive paragraphs. Each paragraph should serve as a mini-argument that supports your thesis, so it’s essential to structure them effectively. Start with a clear topic sentence. This sentence should summarize the main point of the paragraph and relate directly to your thesis statement. A strong topic sentence not only guides your reader but also keeps your writing focused and organized. Avoid vague or overly broad topic sentences—be specific and direct. Next, build your paragraph with evidence and analysis. Use data, quotes, examples, or other forms of evidence to support your topic sentence. But don’t just present the evidence—interpret it. Explain how it supports your point and connects to your thesis. This analysis is where your critical thinking skills come into play, showing your reader that you’ve thought deeply about the material. Conclude each paragraph with a closing sentence that reinforces the main point and ties it back to your thesis. This helps create a sense of coherence and ensures that your paragraphs flow logically from one to the next. By mastering the art of paragraph development, you’ll be able to construct clear, compelling arguments that resonate with your reader.
