Well if I told you there is no red in this picture it would go some way to explaining it… All of those interactions that we all have with the worlds most famous soft drink, build up an image in our brain. We know it, we understand it and it is familiar. So familiar in fact that, when an image like this doesn’t show us what we know to be a can of coke, our brain does the rest to make sure it aligns with what we know to be true.
