Just wrapped up an insightful panel discussion on “Navigating Digital Public Infrastructure: How to Get Started and Tap into Resources Leveraging DPI Implementation.” I shared Lesotho’s journey in driving DPI, the challenges we've faced, and how we are leveraging GovStack and CDPI to overcome them. We’re prioritizing key areas like digital ID to enable real-time online transactions, verification, and eKYC, as well as government-to-citizen payments and vice versa. Additionally, we've identified critical use cases aligned with national priorities, including agriculture extension services, online payments, home affairs services, traffic services, and social grants disbursement. I was joined on stage by distinguished representatives from Eswatini, Colombia, Egypt, UNICC, Uganda, Guinea, and the Dominican Republic. Together, we explored solutions to drive development and enhance public service delivery. #dpisummit #DigitalTransformation #DPI #GovStack #Innovation #Lesotho #PublicService

Industry collaboration is key to establishing robust digital public infrastructure (DPI) in Kenya. We have been discussing engaging with participants how we can work together to create a world-class, inclusive, and interoperable digital payments ecosystem. At the AfricaNenda, 3i Evening Networking Soirée 3i Infotech Ltd. and Mojaloop Open Source Community Meeting Mojaloop Foundation events our CEO Gituku Kirika led discussions on how DPI can drive another ‘leapfrog’ into the future. It will also play a crucial role in achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. We see open and interoperable systems as the key to simplifying how we transact with each other and driving the next wave of public and private service innovation. Governments, globally and across Africa, are realizing the power of digital tools for delivering public goods to people. Digital public infrastructure (DPI) is making governments more efficient in doing just that. One key element of #DPI is #DataExchange, or the ability to safely transfer data seamlessly between agencies and across siloes. In this installment of our Byte-size Insights series, Bernard Sabiti explains how in Uganda, the public and private sectors work together to build a strong data-sharing ecosystem, with strong #safeguards in place via data protection policies and institutions. In the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda's bespoke data sharing platform, #UGhub, data produced by different agencies is all in one spot. This will form the foundational technical architecture for Uganda's #CitizenPortal, where government services can be accessed without citizens needing to physically visit an office or ministry. Approximately 1.4 billion adults lack access to basic banking services globally. This financial exclusion restricts their ability to save, access credit, or prepare for emergencies, deepening cycles of poverty and limiting economic resilience. Digital Public Infrastructure (#DPI) can hep to bridge this gap. In East Africa alone, DPI could contribute to creating about 4.5 million jobs and drive ca. $2.6 billion in economic growth by 2030, transforming unbanked communities into active economic participants. That is why we deeply value the impactful work of Secretary General Veronica M. Nduva, CBS and her team at the East African Community (EAC) in driving digital transformation and supporting digital public infrastructure across the region. Their efforts are vital in laying the groundwork for a more inclusive digital future, and we are grateful to collaborate on these initiatives. At Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH we partner with countries to build secure, sustainable, and scalable DPI systems. For example, through the GovStack Initiative we collaborate with governments to design digital identity systems that enhance access to essential public services and promote economic inclusion. 🤝 Together with the European Union the The World Bank, philanthropies, and as part of #TeamEurope, we provide open-source technical assistance, supporting countries to build adaptable DPI solutions tailored to their specific needs. Only by working together can we ensure that these transformative benefits reach every community, building a more equitable future for all. #DigitalTransformation #DPI #SustainableDevelopment #FinanceForDevelopment #TeamEurope #GovStack #EastAfrica #UNGA79 #EAC #GIZ 🙏 David Roos, Björn Richter Eng.Murenzi Daniel, Deputy Secretary General Andrea Aguer Ariik
