We see you, Mitie and Heathrow! 👀✨ Big love to Mitie for stepping up and making periods a priority. £217k spent with Hey Girls means more free period products in the hands of those who need them most via our community partner network UK wide! Plus having our eco-friendly dispensers dotted around Heathrow means that anyone can grab what they need, when they need it. 🩸 Together, we’re not just talking about period dignity—we're DOING something about it. 🙌 Want to see how real change happens? Check out Mitie’s ESG report 👇 #PeriodDignity #EndPeriodPoverty #HeyGirls
Mitie works with Hey Girls, the only social enterprise that donates 100% of profit to eradicate period poverty and lobbies for period dignity across the UK. Every purchase results in a donation of free products. During FY24, we partnered with Hey Girls and London Heathrow Airport's gender equality network, giving its employees access to free, environmentally-friendly period products. After the successful pilot project, we installed Hey Girls dispensers throughout Heathrow free of charge and spent £217,000 with Hey Girls, supporting further free period product provision. Really like this post from Lee Chambers as language (whats externalised) is the window to our thoughts, belief systems and unconcious bias (internal)… We can show exemplary Allyship within work processes and structures, however addressing programming that can be shown authentically in the home, with partners shows us where we REALLY are with Equity and Equality … being aware of our language and changing our language is the start to developing and reshaping our programming and beliefs (internal)… Creates full equity and equality authenticity… With our world shaped as we find it today, i work with couples where saddeness, resentment and disappointment has grown due to the lack of equality and equity that is required to run a home and meet financial demands … Lets promote true authentic ‘Allyship’ and reflect on our internal processes, our language and link this to positively developing our ‘external Allyship’ behaviours… 🙏🏼🦋 #languagematters #languageawindowtointernalprogramming #authenticallyship #justhavingconversations #justdevelopingtrueallyship #justbeinghuman 🙏🏼🦋 …

While allyship is more about what you do Over what you say Language still matters As it often frames ownership, reaffirms stereotypes or labels something as either positive or negative And with allyship being partnership More solidarity, less charity It’s important to reflect on the language we use Especially given many people say That gender equity starts at home Here’s to intentional sharing that works for your partnership A conversation worth having

How many organisations do you know of working separately on big topics -whether it’s climate change, gender equality, or cancer research - that would benefit from pooling ideas and resources to collaborate? Mergers and acquisitions are common in the business world, yet not so much in the non-profit sector. Just as markets pursue efficiency, philanthropy should also take note of the potential benefits of collaboration. We’d like to see more philanthropists and foundations stop working in silos and start embracing any opportunity to merge efforts with like-minded donors. Here’s to more strategic partnerships and collective efforts to prioritise our impact above all! #Philanthropy #StrategicPhilanthropy #Collaboration

Yet another example of the importance and power of language 👇 Language can bolster ingrained stereotypes and assumptions - but it can also challenge them, reframing them into a new norm. The example below is just one of the ways that we can fight those ingrained ways of thinking. Similarly, my husband doesn't 'babysit' our children if I'm not there; he looks after them. Language is an incredibly important tool when it comes to creating equality. Changing the way we describe or refer to something can change our perception of it. Words can seem innocuous but they are just as powerful as physical actions. Think about the language you are using and you can help to change the narrative.
