I'm writing a book. So I created the ARISE™ GTM Strategy in 2019 - well, formally anyway, during COVID, and I've successfully worked with a number of clients and on my own business to prove its value and worth. I've started writing a book on the subject, and it forces you to get vulnerable on the what, when and why. Here's an extract from the book's opening chapter "I formally designed the ARISE™ GTM Methodology in 2019 during COVID-19. The driver was the constant expansion and contraction of my agency, Digital BIAS, and the fact that whenever I scaled the business, it often coincided with an increase in customer churn, and I hated that. It got me thinking about how I manage and retain long 3, 4, or 5-year client relationships with just myself, the freelancers and offshore teams, and yet every time I tried to build my own team, we’d see clients churn out in six months. So when COVID came along, I had to decide what type of business I wanted, look at the staff, and decide if they could get me there, and they couldn’t, so no furlough, I went back to scratch. I kept four clients, took a bounce-back loan and decided to rebuild from the ground up. During COVID, I took everything out of my head, put it down on paper, and sat 14 certifications: MEDDIC, MEDDPIC, Product Marketing Leadership, a raft of HubSpot Certifications, Positioning Masters, Storytelling Masters and more. I was all in, and I wasn’t going to fail again (but I did, and that story comes later)." I've also developed an outline for an MBA course on Go-To-Market Strategy courtesy of some friends from Columbia Business School, which is pending CPD accreditation. The book is submitted to the publisher Wiley, and I've got a ton of content to crank out at the same time. Not that I like to bite off more than I can chew but sometimes you gotta go all in.

Here’s all you need (in 3 steps): Step 1 – TOFU: Attract audience and raise awareness about service Content: ↳ Blog posts, social media content, infographics, videos, free webinars, quizzes CTA: ↳ Download free resources, subscribe to a newsletter, attend a free workshop, follow on social ⬇︎ Step 2 – MOFU: Nurture leads, build trust, and educate Content: ↳ Case studies, testimonials, guides, white papers, free consultations, email sequences CTA: ↳ Schedule a discovery call, download premium resources, register for a paid workshop ⬇︎ Step 3 – BOFU: Convert leads into paying customers Content: ↳ Sales presentations, limited-time offers, personalized quotes, case studies/success stories CTA: ↳ Book session, purchase package, sign up, redeem offer That’s pretty much it. Time to come clean to you, I guess? You know how I spent the last 6-ish months ranting about company websites not being clear and all? I stand by it. But at the same time, there's been some slight hypocrisy going on. Those few of you who went to look at my website probably caught it, but were too polite to call me out. You see, my website was written and updated just before I kinda stumbled into the value prop and messaging facet of working with B2B websites. And because I haven't updated it since... there isn't a word about messaging on there. Oh, and the frameworks I obsessed over all this time? You got it, none of that is used there. Don't get me wrong — these frameworks are effective. They helped me deliver projects for CreditorWatch, Optemization, Journey, and more (sometimes in unexpected ways). But for some reason, being your own client makes projects 10x more complicated. (Big reason why I got to work on Kalyna Marketing's website for the awesome Mariya Delano!) All this is to say that this hypocrisy is ending — FINALLY. I've treated my business as I treat my clients. (Except clients don't have to wait FOUR days to fill out the canvas — we do it in 90 minutes together.) After pulling all the stops and geeking out over Framer this week, I've created a new website with: ✅ clear ICP ✅ clear offer ✅ clear deliverables ✅ the process explained ✅ relevant and fresh social proof It's not yet on my main domain as I have to figure out the move from Squarespace to Framer still. 🌟 Currently, I'm volunteering on marketing audit projects for two small companies – a SaaS start-up and a not-for-profit organization. After a decade in the corporate world, it's incredibly refreshing to collaborate with small businesses and feel their passion for making a difference. 🌟 One of my clients asked for a simple, doable monthly action plan for DIY marketing to grow their audience and boost leads. I'm all for the DIY concept and understand the need to save money, especially in this economy (freelance rates range from $50/hour for uni grads to sky-high for big-name brands). I drafted several versions, distilled it to the essentials, and chose affordable tools. Yet, it still demands 50 hours a month for an established business and around $200-250 for tools (opting for the free and cheapest options) and integrated AI tools to automate processes and save time. Can you imagine? 60 hours of a business owner's time that could and should be spent on product development, client onboarding, and service. And that doesn't include the time needed to learn how to use the tools effectively. While many new SaaS products are targeted at small businesses, the complexity and barriers remain significant. Working on these projects, I've learned a few BIG things about myself. I love learning about people and their businesses, understanding not just their goals but also their 'ikigai' – what drives them forward. I enjoy analyzing, understanding, and explaining the behind-the-scenes aspects of business from a marketing perspective. One client said, "I just went through the marketing research you did for us, and I'm blown away. I'm going to dive deeper into it because it's packed with so much good stuff." Hearing this from a client is incredibly rewarding, and I'm excited to see how these new insights into their audience and competitors, aligned with the lean marketing strategy, will help them stand out in their industry.
