Case Study: Shopify Plus Checkout Extensibility Upgrade Recently, I had the opportunity to help an enterprise Shopify Plus client urgently upgrade their checkout to Checkout Extensibility for Amazon Pay integration. Here's a brief look at the process: Step 1: Started by comparing the current checkout.liquid with a fresh copy to identify all customizations made over time. Step 2: Mapped out how to transition each customization. Highlights include: - Google Tag Manager: Shifted from a less organized method to Shopify's streamlined Customer Events (Web Pixels). We have a standard gtm.js for easy integration with GA4 and GTM. This gtm.js acts as a plug and play integration of GA4/GTM for Shopify stores we manage. - Notices: Moved legal notices to a neater, custom build Shopify app using Checkout UI Extension. - Simplifying: Let go of some old customizations that were no longer necessary to keep things tidy. Step 3: Enabled Shopify's single-page checkout to enhance user experience. It was a learning curve, but I am proud to have streamlined their checkout process while integrating Amazon Pay. Did you get a chance to upgrade to Checkout Extensibility yet? I’d be keen to hear about your experience. #shopify #shopifyexperts #shopifyplus #shopifydeveloper

Today we introduce our first new product category on Checkout Blocks in over a year: Discounts, starting with custom shipping discounts. The team worked closely with over 30 leading Shopify Plus brands to create the absolute best shipping discount experience on Shopify. Available today on any billing plan. 🚀 Why discounts and more specifically, Shipping discounts? Checkout Blocks is not a discount app first and foremost. Instead we view ourselves as a suite of tools for customizing checkout. Shipping discounts exist primarily in checkout which makes them a great fit. There are a growing number of “shipping discount” apps but they are ignoring a lot of what Shopify Plus brands demand - flexibility. We explicitly build for Shopify Plus & Enterprise brands. As a result, we applied our opinionated approach to shipping discounts: compatibility with Shopify Markets, Multi-language out of box, easy Import/Export across expansion stores, and best in class UX following Shopify standards. This has resulted in the very best shipping discount solution for Shopify. 2022: Blocks for checkout UI customization 2023: Customizations for checkout logic 2024: Discounts platform We have plans to add additional discount use-cases - but more on that in the future. 😉

Shopify has announced a major update that significantly expands product variant support to up to 2,000 variants per product. This enhancement is aimed at accommodating larger and more complex catalogs and entails important changes for Shopify partners and developers: 1. Migration to New GraphQL APIs: Custom apps using existing GraphQL product APIs need to migrate to the new GraphQL APIs by April 1st, 2025. 2. REST API Migration: Apps built on REST requiring more than 100 variants support must switch to the new GraphQL APIs. 3. Conditions for Continuing with REST APIs: Apps not exceeding 100 variants can use the deprecated REST APIs, but with limitations: - No New Features or Support: Only the new GraphQL APIs will receive updates and new features. - Variant Limit: Using the deprecated REST APIs caps variants at 100, potentially limiting catalog expansion. - Future Support: The GraphQL APIs will eventually be the only product APIs supported by Shopify. Shopify will start providing early access to the new 2,000 variant limit for select merchants in June, with a broader rollout planned throughout 2024. This move marks a pivotal development for the Shopify ecosystem, urging developers to plan their migration to harness these new capabilities effectively. #ShopifyUpdates #graphQL #eCommerce #Retail #DigitalSuits

If you're aiming to offer a 5% discount on Shopify for customers who opt for prepaid gateways, but find the direct approach challenging, there's a clever workaround. Previously, the go-to method involved Shopify scripts, which applied a 5% discount line-wise across all products in the cart, leading to confusion. Now, the Checkout UI Extension offers a more elegant solution. By utilizing this extension, you can automatically apply a 5% discount code when a customer selects a prepaid option, just dont forget to make the coupon active for combinations. This strategy not only streamlines the discount application process but also enhances prepaid conversions. #Shopify #EcommerceTips

Shopify is pulling the plug on checkout.liquid on August 13, 2024 and here's what you need to know about this major change. 👀 So, what's actually changing? Shopify is replacing checkout.liquid with "checkout extensibility" - a new way to customize your checkout pages. This shift affects how you'll modify your Information, Shipping, and Payment pages, while the Thank You and Order Status pages remain unchanged for now. Okay, but why should you care? 🤔 This new system is essentially LEGO for your checkout. You'll be able to snap in new features without extensive coding, making it easier to integrate with Shop Pay and potentially boost your conversion rates. For instance, adding gift wrapping at checkout used to require developer intervention and careful testing. Now, you'll likely just need to add an app and toggle a setting. If you don't update in time, your checkout will revert to a basic version, hurting your customer experience. If you've got thoughts on how this might affect your store, let's discuss them in the comments. 👇 #Shopify #ShopifyUpdates #Ecommerce
