Jump created the logo and title sequence for The Answer Run presented by Jason Manford - along with developing the gameplay graphics which are animated by the lovely computer systems team at Marvellous Machines. Client: BBC Studios Harry Handyside – Art Director at Jump: “Our journey with The Answer Run began when we were brought on to help create the show’s sizzle reel. For this, we designed a 3D version of the set and filmed contestants on green screen, seamlessly compositing them into the game’s dynamic world. When the show was commissioned by the BBC, we were excited to take on the full scope of the project, developing both the brand identity and the on-screen gameplay graphics. Our design approach focused on delivering a clean, app-like experience for the gameplay. The mechanics needed to be intuitive and engaging, relying on simple swiping gestures for players to interact with. The animations—whether for swipes, correct, or incorrect answers—were crafted to be quick and fun, enhancing the experience without overshadowing the quiz itself. Each correct answer was designed to deliver a satisfying ‘dopamine hit’ for both players and the audience, adding to the excitement of the game.” https://lnkd.in/eAyqsSXY #motiongraphics #tvgraphics #quiz #theanswerrun #bbc #design #animation #gameplay #gameplaygraphics #quizgraphics #quizshow

There is no better time to start designing #mixedreality apps and games. ShapesXR made it possible to attach #UI, props and panels to the user's body without any coding. With the interactivity features you can create some VERY convincing interactive prototypes like this laser gun complete of: - shooting animation (with the scene system) - "trigger shooting" (by linking any buttons on the controller) - Sound effects (yes! since 2.0 Shapes supports audio files) - Haptics 🤯 I'll drop here the space code in case you want to check it out: c5x2er5r (just remember the space is public so be nice to each other😉)

Here's how I spam test explosions to see how they look in clusters or in single instances. This - is not a particle emitter; it's group of emitters working to create an effect. Also, for those who r in gamedev, will understand that typical billboards will roll along with the camera, completely breaking the immersion. Some games can allow that coz their camera will never roll, but not this game. So the billboard implementation has been tweaked. Also, the billboard here isn't a quad of 2 tris either. This is done so that it'll break the illusion of a flat "2d" feel. The shader behind the explosion is doing a lot more - this is not a copy and paste from some generated explosion animation. It has its own diffuse, normal, emissive textures purposefully generated to look dynamic depending on where the light is coming from. so much shit just for 1 type of effect.

As the Lead 3D artist on Battle of Backyard, our work on the artistic vision was complex—we had to find a balance between faithfully recreating historical models and optimizing for smooth online gameplay. Working in Unity, we knew that too much detail could not only impact performance but also distract from the most important thing—the dynamic action. One of the main challenges we faced was the toon shader with an outline. While detailed models look impressive in isolation, in our cartoony style, they could disrupt the aesthetic, especially in such a fast-paced game. We worked hard to find the golden mean, where we retained the uniqueness and recognizability of historical vehicles, while also ensuring clarity and consistency with the cartoony visuals. Additionally, we had to simplify textures to avoid overwhelming the visual design, especially since the toon shader itself enhances the visual load. Our priority was clarity—the player should be able to focus on the dynamic gameplay without being distracted by overly detailed surroundings. This entire process demonstrated how important a thoughtful approach to game art is—art isn't just about adding details, but about ensuring every element serves its purpose and supports the fluidity and engagement of the gameplay. #3DArt #Unity #GameArt #IndieGameDev #BattleOfBackyard #ArtDirection

The results from the State of CG 2024 survey are here! https://lnkd.in/guhjxkSA 6,251 respondents answered questions about their primary 3D software package. It was not possible to vote on other softwares (to avoid bias). Some surprising takeaways: 1. The gap between happy and unhappy users is massive (50 NPS points between #UnrealEngine and #Unity). 2. Nearly half of all UE and #Houdini users started less than 2 years ago. Compared to just 12% of #Cinema4D users. 3. Speed of Development is a big predictor for user satisfaction. 4. Cinema 4D is the easiest to learn, Houdini the hardest 5. Houdini users vote it as best for VFX, #Maya for Animation, UE for Games, C4D for Advertising, #3dsMax for Archviz and #Blender for wide-range versatility. 6. "Improve the user interface" is the most common complaint across all softwares.😂 Read the Full Report: https://lnkd.in/guhjxkSA #cg

Lets be real, Blender, Houdini and Unreal Engine are the softwares that are doing the most out there, in the updates, the support, and the learning material ! They clearly care and do everything possible to get the CG world better and more perfomant ! Blender, Houdini, Unreal Engine Of course Maya is still the best for pure animation and some might say, also for rendering, because of Arnold ! If you have different opinions or thoughts about the subject, I would love to hear it 😊 !!

In a remarkable animated timeline, James Eagle and Visual Capitalist unveil the shifting landscapes of internet browsers from 1994 to 2022. From Mosaic's pioneering 97% market share in the early '90s to Google Chrome's dominance today, this graphic highlights not just technological advancements but also strategic shifts in the tech industry. Mosaic, introduced by a young Marc Andreessen and his team at the University of Illinois, revolutionized web browsing by integrating images directly into text pages—a stark contrast to the earlier method of viewing images via separate files. This innovation paved the way for Netscape, which dominated the market until the rise of Microsoft's Internet Explorer in the late '90s. The subsequent battles in the browser wars saw Mozilla's Firefox and Google's Chrome enter the fray, each introducing key innovations that reshaped user experiences and expectations. Chrome’s unique tab management system exemplifies such innovation, ensuring stability and efficiency despite higher resource usage. This animated journey through browser history not only showcases technological evolution but also underlines the strategic pivots that can define market leadership in the tech industry. It serves as a compelling reminder of how adaptability and forward-thinking are crucial in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. #TechTrends #DigitalInnovation #WebBrowsers #MarketLeadership #TechnologyEvolution

𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 is used in a very clever way to display infographics. Although it can not be done by AI solely, I am sure soon enough we will have AI tools for that too. It still requires a dedicated designer to animate keyframes based on data sheets and the result looks so good! Consider an animated infographic for your next social media post. --- #motiondesign #motiongraphics #mograph #motionlovers #motiondesigner #motion #mdcommunity #mgcollective #aftereffects #motiongraphic #motionmate #motiongraphicscollective #animation #motionaep #motiondesigners #motionmood #2danimation #danimation #adobeaftereffects #aescripts #motionmass #motiondevotion #motionographer
