Closing out the week by celebrating an impressive example of cross-functional, interorganizational, intraregional, interstate - I'm running out of words here! - collaboration. SportsLand - a collaborative endeavor formed "to explore the intersections of sports, technology, and healthcare with a focus on sports science, data & analytics, HealthTech, and human performance." It all began with generative questions such as (roughly paraphrased) 'How might we combine two of OH’s key strengths - Sports & Healthcare - and leverage great regional philanthropy to create a living laboratory for sports medicine?' Full transparency - I'm not a big sports fan and almost didn't go to this morning's event, but I was so impressed by - - the vision that brought Sportsland into being - the creative leveraging of regional #strengths - sports & #healthcare - their re-envisioning of healthcare delivery and facilities (for MSK anyway) - the breadth of their impact "from pee-wees to pros" and beyond And their impact isn't limited to sports - the real focus is human performance, from surgeons in the O.R. to kids on the playground, including mental health. Thanks to Neil Wyant and Dr. James Voos for an inspiring session. Thanks to OhioX for convening and to WynHouse: An Innovation Firm for sponsoring. 🙏 Keep going, SportsLand! I'm now a fan. #innovation #healthcare #collaboration #crossfunctionalteams University Hospitals #NEO #Ohio

Our biggest and best thoughts almost NEVER come when we're sat at our desks. So with some big thinking needed last week, we took our FizzPopBANG Ltd team brains for a business planning update and ideas fest in the open air to Regents Park and Zoological Society of London (ZSL) (London Zoo). There's science behind why the outdoors helps get the cogs going when you need to think big... 🌳 ... A study conducted by the University of Utah and University of Kansas found that being immersed in nature can lead to a 50% increase in creativity. 🚶🏼♀️ And not only that... if you layer walking AND nature, you can boost creative inspiration by an average of 60% compared to sitting (Stanford Uni study) - demonstrating the significant impact of walking in nature on idea generation and creative thinking. And we thought big! You can see from the video that we had a fantastic time connecting as a team and coming up with BIG PLANS. Watch out for big things to come! 👉👉 Where do you get your biggest and best ideas?

From the world of sports where the word ambidextrous is used, we know the rarity of athletes excelling with both hands or feet. A thought today around “ambidextrous organizations” i.e. an organization that can exploit ( execute on current strategy) and experiment ( spend time on new things ) at the same time effectively. These organizations prioritize innovation, reflecting the demands of our times. If a fitting organization comes to mind( besides the obvious ones) , share your thoughts in the comments section. #thursdaythoughts

🚀 Excited to share a recent success story from my work with Williams Tomide Sodunke of CoterieX ! 🌟 Recently, I spearheaded a comprehensive market survey focusing on the challenges facing young professionals. With over 150 responses, I meticulously analyzed the data to uncover key insights. Demographically, 90% of respondents fell within the 15-30 age range, with a significant portion being self-employed individuals—a valuable demographic for CoterieX's community. The survey revealed a spectrum of challenges, from mental health issues to career advancement obstacles. Reasons varied, including work-life balance struggles and the pursuit of skill acquisition. Delving deeper, I identified opportunities for CoterieX to step in and make a difference. An overwhelming 88% expressed familiarity with personal development communities, highlighting a strong potential for engagement. Additionally, respondents expressed a keen interest in courses covering self-evaluation, leadership, communication, tech, and sales/marketing skills. Even more promising, 80% expressed willingness to engage with CoterieX's offerings, including mentorship programs and financial aid opportunities. I'm proud to say that CoterieX is poised to make a meaningful impact by providing tailored support, community access, mentorship opportunities, and personal development courses. If you're passionate about personal and professional growth, or if you see potential for collaboration, don't hesitate to reach out! Let's connect and explore opportunities together. 🌱💼 #ThoughtLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #OpportunityAwaits #BusinessIntelligence #21dayslinkedintourwithtomide #Thrivewithtomide

𝐈𝐒𝐏𝐎 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 – 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬! 🚀 Attending ISPO MUNICH and the Sports Tech Nation was an inspiring experience. It’s clear how technology is reshaping the world of sports, not just in performance and prevention, but also in tackling one of the biggest challenges: #mentalwellbeing. I had the chance to connect with some incredible minds, including Özgül DALKILIÇ and Ralph Wentz, who shared fascinating insights about the future of sports and tech. What stood out to me most is how sports can act as a mirror for resilience – where strength isn’t just physical but deeply tied to mental well-being. My biggest takeaway: Mental health in sports is still underestimated, yet it’s central to both performance and sustainability. By integrating technology, we have the chance to address this at scale – making mental well-being an active part of every athlete's journey, from grassroots to professional levels. I am very much looking forward to establishing the role of mentalport GmbH in the world of sports together with incredible supporters, among them Marion Reichel, Hannes Schwedhelm and Jan Rosenthal. Let’s keep the conversation going! #ISPO2024 #SportsTech #MentalHealth #Leadership #Innovation

3 reasons why twinning with other sports medicine and sports performance staff works to make your team behind the team think better 🧠 🤝 I had a virtual flat white earlier today. This topic came up. Had to share this. Twinning, aka partnering. 3 reasons: 1. Exchange of Knowledge and Best Practices: Collaborating with others in this field allows for the sharing of knowledge, techniques, and best practices. This exchange can introduce new perspectives and innovative approaches to injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimisation. By learning from the experiences and expertise of other professionals, your support staff can develop a more comprehensive understanding and apply cutting-edge methods, which can lead to better decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Sounds good to me... 2. Enhanced Collaborative Problem-Solving: Twinning encourages collaborative efforts in addressing complex issues related to athlete care and performance. When different teams work together, they can pool their resources and expertise to tackle challenges more effectively. This collaborative environment fosters critical thinking and encourages the exploration of diverse solutions, ultimately improving the cognitive flexibility and adaptability of the support staff. Got to love being nimble! Such an environment helps staff members develop a more nuanced approach to their work, enhancing overall team performance. 3. Professional Development and Continuous Learning: Regular interaction with other sports medicine and performance practitioners/ clinicians promotes continuous learning and professional development. Exposure to different methodologies, technologies, and case studies broadens the knowledge base of your team. This ongoing learning process keeps the staff engaged and intellectually stimulated, preventing stagnation and promoting a culture of curiosity and growth. A well-informed and continuously evolving support staff can better anticipate and address the needs of athletes, leading to improved cognitive functions and more effective support strategies. These three benefits underscore the importance of fostering connections and collaborations with other sports medicine and performance teams to enhance the cognitive and operational capabilities of your team's support staff. Look for teammates outside of your team today. Count me as one of these if you want, but you need two more. #culture #performance #sportsmedicine
