As a landscape architect, you can dictate how people will 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 a space. It’s about creating moments of wonder, connection, and discovery. Elevation and structure changes, even subtle ones, play a large role in the creation of spaces that encourage exploration. Let's take a pergola for example, it isn’t just a shade structure. It’s a tool to direct attention upward, toward the open sky. Raised planting? That's a frame for a distant skyline or an intimate courtyard. By combining elevation and structural elements, you define zones and guide perspectives, creating purposeful and seamless spaces. Every choice—materials, lighting, water—enhances the story of a space. - Timber feels warm. - Stone feels grounded. - Water can flow across levels, adding serenity and sound. Every element plays together to form the spatial experience. The result? A design that doesn’t just look beautiful but feels extraordinary. ELVER HOUSE https://lnkd.in/gryp7brd The project area, situated on the highest slope of a hill in the Yalıkavak region, is characterized by the abundance of large olive trees and the presence of impressive rock formations. To the north, the land is bounded by a fairly steep rocky slope, while to the south, it overlooks a crowded street from above. The noise from the street reaches up due to the valley effect. Therefore, the structure on the south facade was designed with thick stone walls and minimal openings to create a barrier. On the north, main garden area features a big pool and terrace areas, forming a secluded space enclosed with designed environment and landscape. The building is structured with two levels, set back. At the first entrance level, a linear thick stone masonry wall serves as a boundary object to provide controlled passage and create a visual and auditory barrier. This first level includes garage, guest parking area, workshop, two-room guest accommodation, multipurpose room, staff quarters, laundry-ironing room, storage, and two technical areas. From this level, there is an inner courtyard with a winding ramp that leads to the upper level where the main entrance is located. The second level, which houses the main living areas, consists of three main units: living area, accommodation area, and guest accommodation area. Secondary spaces such as kitchen, stairs, and storage areas are designed as stone elements that will create a border with the landscape and steel elements that define entrances and corridors. The main garden area with pool and main outdoor terrace areas is an isolated garden that forms its own view with the designed built environment and landscape. #architecture #design #architecturedesign #architecturelovers #bodrum

Adding plants and trees into walls, interior design, roofs, and landscaping Using natural light and skylights Breaking down the barrier between inside and outside, via sliding doors and balconies Introducing water features Encouraging wildlife, particularly insects and small birds Biophilic design is a concept used within the building industry to increase occupant connectivity to the natural environment through the use of direct nature, indirect nature, and space and place conditions. Used at both the building and city-scale, it is argued that this idea has health, environmental, and economic benefits for building occupants and urban environments, with few drawbacks. Although its name was coined in recent history, indicators of biophilic design have been seen in architecture from as far back as the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. While the design features that characterize Biophilic design were all traceable in preceding sustainable design guidelines, the new term sparked wider interest and lent academic credibility.
