The data is clear: • Gaming market ($184B) dwarfs movies ($33.9B) and music ($28.6B) combined • YouTube saw 35 billion hours of sports content viewed last year and is growing, currently up 30% • Roblox hit 88.9M daily active users, with most under 17 • 78% of gamers use platforms primarily for social connection Yet many rights holders still treat gaming and social platforms as "marketing channels" rather than core to their future. This year, through consulting, speaking and judging industry awards, you've shown how this mindset will hold organisations back from meaningful youth engagement. Looking ahead to 2025 you predict: • YouTube will become central to sports media strategy • Gaming platforms will drive deeper fan engagement than traditional channels • Rights holders will need transmedia strategies to survive • The next billion-dollar IP will emerge from UGC platforms To sports and entertainment brands still sitting on the sidelines: young people's attention is valuable and they know it. The time to build authentic connections through social gaming and social video is now. The old playbook of hoarding content is done. The new playbook is about growing influence." Not bad...
