⚠️Does Google have a demographic problem - even without the AI challenge❓ Per a new report (Axios and YPulse): 1️⃣ 46% of those aged 18-24, start their information quests by searching on Google 2️⃣ compared with 58% of those aged 25-39. But: 3️⃣ 21% of 18- to 24-year-olds start with TikTok, while 5% start on YouTube! What does this mean? Social media platforms have "shifted so much from being a place to connect with friends and family to an information superhighway," MaryLeigh Bliss, chief content officer for YPulse, tells Axios. Overall Google is still top for initial searches, followed by TikTok and YouTube, but the tech giant is coming under attack from various angles. And the success of shortform platform TikTok in the information search / news area, might well explain why Linkedin will be starting a shortform video tab… For media outlets not using the channels TikTok, Youtube, Linkedin etc. might therefore become very risky. Bursting at the seams with the latest digital and social data, here are some of the highlights : - Social media user identities in Southeast Asia equate to 61.6% of the region’s population.🛜 The average user spends 6 hours and 35 minutes online each day - 2 hours and 20 minutes of which are on social media. In Southeast Asia, this time is even higher. - Southeast Asians are the world’s most ‘active’ gamers with the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam taking the top spots. - Singapore ranks sixth in Reddit’s top countries based on reported ad reach as a percentage of the total population. - Gen Z are the biggest users of email.
