And to Rosemary McLean and David North for the facilitation, wisdom and linking summaries that enable so many voices to be heard and insights to be commercial and practical.
What a ✨brilliant✨ year for roundtables here at The Career Innovation Company. We’ve had the privilege of hosting 8 roundtables around subjects as diverse as sustainability, the age of skills, and engagement through transformation. All the write-ups can be found on our website. Our first roundtable of the year featured ❖ Jonathan Winter of The Career Innovation Company exploring how the AI revolution will benefit HR, talent and careers including: 💡 The risk/opportunity balance: is more energy spent on risk than opportunity? 💡 Productivity gains and HR’s strategic role 💡 Democratising career opportunity using AI Then in March, our fantastic panel featuring Johanne Gilroy, Matthew Maidment, Anglo American, Thea Reedman (Foundation CIPD). Starbucks, Simran Gill. Specsavers, Jennifer Clarke Liberty Global and Zuzia Kobos. Hitachi Energy all shared experiences of elevating Early Careers programmes. This included how employee's changing needs and expectations are being met with new career skills and experiences for a transforming career landscape. During May Lizzie Da Costa and Madi Bailey at Anglo American discussed building career engagement during major business transformation. They told us of the importance of defining their career strategy and aligning with organisational change to build engagement and opportunity. In June, we welcomed Tom Hilpert, BMW Group, to explore how to create the right conditions to activate a great career culture. He shared brilliant examples of their strategy, events and resources for activation and beyond. In July, Asi DeGani, LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) asked 'What’s the relevance of HR in the age of skills?' He focused on: 💡 The need for all organisations to demonstrate career opportunities for employees 💡 How to connect skills needs with the career journey In September, Natalie Ward-Smith, Bupa, explained how their sustainability strategy reaches across and beyond the organisation and drives skills development and engagement 💚 Then, in November, Rachel Foord MSc, The Career Innovation Company shared how organisations can champion neurodivergent employees' careers through understanding and optimising individual experiences across the employee lifecycle. Finally, in December, we’ve just welcomed Lindsay Hickey, and Puja Power, BSI to hear how they’ve worked in partnership to increase internal career progression and change perceptions of career opportunities across BSI. Each roundtable has provided great insights and we’re hugely grateful to our fantastic speakers 💐 We’ve been overwhelmed by the number of attendees and the very positive reaction of those who attended.
