The provision of water is essential for the manufacture of life saving medicines. Likewise, the pharmaceutical sector can play a critical role in preserving water availability and quality. The findings of a recent BSI global survey suggest that the public agrees. 76% say medicines are a national security product and should therefore be prioritised in the allocation of water supply. And 82% think the sector has a responsibility to protect water quality by implementing tight wastewater controls. To help build trust and confidence in AI models, a standardized reporting tool could provide a way for everyone to make AI models more accurate and prevent harm. Following workshops with technical specialists, academics, consumers rights experts and more, the consensus is that to make this work for all, a contestability tool should be simple, with non-technical language for users of varying digital literacy. Raising public awareness of this would be critical, with clear details around who receives a contest report, who is liable for harms, and the responsiveness users can reasonably expect.
