Just imagine a world… A world where sales candidates reply to a recruiter, take the time to diligently review the job description, schedule the call, show up on time and are prepared, know their numbers and process and easily communicate this, complete the candidate profile the same day along with the video, quickly schedule the next interview with the client, show up prepared for that interview and crush it and eventually get an offer in 10 days or less…. I can not only imagine it, I am living in this world. Of the 9+ candidates I place each month, 3 of them typically fit into this category. I have a genuine question for sales recruiters. When evaluating a sales person in the interview process, what are some key questions to ask to measure or demonstrate business acumen and/or the ability to solution or provide the right offerings to a client? Throughout my time in sales, I’ve been part of hiring processes - and one thing that still remains true, is sales people sell themselves well at the interview however it doesn’t always translate to success in a new role. Go hard or go home. You can't do both. Sales Leaders tell me they are often managing a moving situation, after all great Sales Professionals have options and typically change role inside every 5 years or fewer. So, when it comes to hiring, in order to attract the kind of people who suit your situation avoid conflating "an indepth recruitment process that seeks to determine both parties value proposition" with taking a long time between stages or having too many stages.... ...sometimes, taking a punt on someone because you get a great feeling or have heard brilliant things about them is OK if it suits both parties. A killer question that most clients don't ask their recruiter... "How many roles are you currently working on?" This is a question I am rarely asked and is soooo important for a client to know. A recruiter can give you the best sales pitch in the world about their ratios, their success stories, and the candidates they have access to, or are currently representing.
