Let’s reflect on the role of inclusive employment. In 2024, the labor force participation rate for people with disabilities in the U.S. stands at 40.4%, compared to 77.9% for those without disabilities. Similarly, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities is 8.5%, more than double the 3.8% rate for others. Inclusive employment not only benefits individuals but strengthens organizations. A fantastic example of how this enriches lives is happening every day at Beanz & Co, a wonderful inclusive coffee cafe in Avon, CT founded by Noelle Alix and Kim Morrison- where "everyone belongs." Creating equitable workplaces requires ongoing efforts in: - Increasing accessibility and accommodations. - Promoting disability awareness and training for managers. - Tracking employment outcomes to identify and address gaps.
