Excellent podcast, recommended listening and some excellent follow-up resources located on the website. For those of you that have followed my digital assessment journey from #UBC, there are parallels here to my pillars that #AcademicIntegrity is not just a 'teacher' problem, but an institutional one. The #SwissCheeseModel addresses this quite nicely, and where my recommendation of the assessment #RadarTrap fits as well.
🚀 Just released! Our latest AI in Education Podcast episode featuring Phillip Dawson is a must-listen chat. Discover how the analogy of the "Swiss Cheese model of academic integrity" can safeguard education against AI misuse. 🧀 Phil's expertise on feedback literacy and layered assessments is game-changing for educators, and the conversation catches up on the current practice as well as what we've learned through the years. Catch all the insights from Phill. 🎧 Find it in your favourite podcast app, or here: https://lnkd.in/g-EUmrFy #AIinEducation #FeedbackLiteracy #AcademicAssessment #EdTech

This is key. You want AI to do the things you don’t enjoy. Leave the fun stuff to your human hands. Otherwise we are destined to become machine operators. We’d live in a dystopian world where we’d all write AI books to be skimmed and summarized by AI bots. Students would use AI to do their work just to be graded by AI bots. We have the power to keep our humanity where it belongs.

"Why are we having the robots and AI helping dreary people do the creative things, instead of [helping] the creative people do the dreary things?" Sometimes a podcast host asks exactly the right questions to get the most out of their guest. Chris Lukianenko did that when he interviewed me for the NextWave Conversations podcast, and led me into to a chat that let me paint the big picture that I see of the role of generative AI in the transformation of education. If you want a challenging view about what's happening around us - and what might happen next - then I'm I think this 30 minutes is a pretty compact and concise story. As always, it was an absolute pleasure to speak with Dan Bowen 🎸 and Ray Fleming for the AI in Education Podcast (return visitor!). This time around, we spoke about AI, assessment, and automated grading. Hot topic! When we spoke, I'd recently posted an article called "Don't Use AI To Grade Student Work" (link in comments). It's safe to say that it stirred up a few feelings, with over 600 comments across three LinkedIn posts and a blog article. In this episode of the podcast, we discuss my thoughts on AI and assessment, and look at some of the emerging research about whether we can - or should - automate grading. Of course I'm totally biased, but I think this is an important issue to discuss for everyone involved in both K-12 and Higher Education, and especially those in decision-making positions. #AI #aieducation #grading #automation #aiassessment #aias
