Reposting for my energy industry colleagues and contacts: at some point, you're probably going to incorporate sUAS/drones into your organization or workflows and while the regulatory conversations are usually the most boring/frustrating, they're also the most important. This will be a good webinar to learn about a subject that will very likely be in your near future and provide a partial understanding of what challenges may lie ahead.
Operating drones/robotics remotely, or beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), has been pretty difficult for many utilities to achieve. Working with Skydio's regulatory team, utilities such as New York Power Authority (NYPA), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), Duke Energy, and American Electric Power (AEP) have received BVLOS waivers to enable their cutting-edge remote inspection programs July 25th @ 1pm EST- Daniel Jenkins (Regulatory Program Manager @Skydio) is showing a 3-tiered approach (crawl, walk, run) on how utilities can start to operate beyond their current capabilities. Register below if you are curious to see our team's 3-tiered approach (crawl, walk, run) to unlocking BVLOS operations for your organization.

Did you know? Each year, 3-4% of offshore wind turbine blades require replacement due to internal defects, costing time and money. At Avular, we're tackling this challenge head-on with our partners SpectX and Eindhoven University of Technology. Our goal? To develop an autonomous unmanned inspection system that accurately detects internal structural defects using aerial radiography. No more costly manual inspections or relying solely on visual checks. With the use of advanced drone technology and aerial radiography, we're paving the way for cheaper, safer, and more accurate wind turbine inspections. Say goodbye to unnecessary downtime and hello to predictive maintenance. #WindTurbineInspections #AerialRadiography #RenewableEnergy #Avular

Exploring the Depths with ROVs: The Future of Underwater Inspection🌊 Underwater infrastructure, like bridges, dams, and offshore structures, needs regular inspection to stay safe and operational. However, getting accurate data from below the surface can be challenging. That's where Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) come in. ROVs make underwater inspections: 1. Safer – They reach deep, hard-to-access areas without putting anyone at risk. 2. Efficient – They can inspect large areas without interrupting operations. 3. Precise – High-resolution cameras and sensors capture detailed visuals and data, even in murky waters. With ROVs, we can keep critical infrastructure well-maintained and prevent bigger problems down the line. If you're curious about how this technology works or have any questions, feel free to reach out! #ROV #UnderwaterInspection #InfrastructureSafety #Innovation #TechInInspection #SGAS
