Jean-Claude Charlet’s Post

What consequences could the development of breakthrough technology have on a society with sick fundamentals? This is clearly the situation today, not only in France but internationally. While the current period demands a common movement on complex global issues, nations and their people tend to retreat into themselves. Worse, two blocs with entirely different societal projects are emerging. These blocs transcend state borders and are found within populations, creating fractures, damaging the idea of fraternity, and reducing collective strength. In this fragile society, a breakthrough technology that will transform the world at all levels appears. The effects of artificial intelligence are closely linked to what humans ultimately want to do with it. It can be an opportunity for impact like humanity has never known. An impact that can be positive or negative. It can enable better education, health, food, governance... and it can ultimately ensure peace. Initiatives exist around the world to allow AI to positively serve humanity. From France, two of them are presented in this article: "les communs démocratiques" by Make.org and AIForPeace by MoHo. https://lnkd.in/ehYcaDQ4 #AIForPeace

Tools are what civilizations make of them. Do we want more democracy? More "social democracy", what accelerated reconstruction, recovery and progress in Western Europe and North America after WW2? Humanity, the humanities, a vision for a civilization of progress, and then AI. AI is not the solution but a means to an end that boomers have lost sight of. Better leadership is required to make something of AI or chat will be another form of entertainment after the massive waste of time that social media was for most. Tik Tok, or a reminder of what The Enlightenment was? It is up to each and everyone of us...
