A number of people have mentioned to me this week that Esri's #ArcGIS visual for #PowerBI is erroring when they try and log into ArcGIS Online. It also happened to me when presenting at the Power BI & Fabric Manchester UG yesterday evening. I don't know whether this is related to Esri's recent licensing changes, or the new version of their visual, which unlike other Power BI visuals, is pushed out in the same way as custom visuals are - regardless of the version of Power BI Desktop you're running - so you can't revert to an earlier version. The fix to get it working again is to delete a number of folders from Power BI and your web browser's local storage caches. Esri have published instructions on how to do this here: https://lnkd.in/ekdj6SrH At Tekantis Limited, we're continuing to build on #IconMapPro's existing ArcGIS support in Power BI for background maps, reference layers from ArcGIS feature layers and native interactive, Power BI conditionally formatted ArcGIS feature layers, bound to your Power BI dataset. In addition to supporting authentication via API Key, we will also be adding support for OAuth2 authentication in an upcoming release. For more details on Icon Map Pro - check out the features and documentation here: https://lnkd.in/e9pJf6kw #Maps #GIS #IconMap #ArcGISOnline #PowerBI

Another update to Icon Map Pro has just gone live in Microsoft AppSource. This is a huge release! We've put a lot of work into building on our support for surfacing ArcGIS assets in Power BI. Whilst Esri provide their own ArcGIS visual for Power BI, it's limited in its capabilities. We're aiming to add some of those missing features including conditional formatting, drill-down, drill-through, report page tooltips etc. We're also offering multiple authentication options, using the ArcGIS Location Platform, so individual users don't need to log in - although as shown in the picture, we support that too! Here are the headlines: • Choose between username & password, API Key or OAuth2 authentication. By opting for OAuth2 with a client ID and secret in the ArcGIS Location Platform, you eliminate the need for individual user logins or ArcGIS Viewer licenses. • Use ArcGIS background maps, or your organisation’s own custom maps. • Bring in ArcGIS feature layers and use Power BI conditional formatting to set the colours – enabling for example choropleth maps using your Power BI data. • Draw multiple reference layers and data-bound ArcGIS layers on the same map. • Drill-down between levels to show more detailed geographies. • Use Power BI native features such as Report Page Tooltips, Drill-Through, Cross-highlighting etc. • Use ArcGIS to host your GeoJSON files to use in Icon Map Pro. • Use ArcGIS vector tile layers. • Use ArcGIS WMS layers and apply dynamic filters. • Combine ArcGIS resources with other non-ArcGIS items. And it’s not just ArcGIS features we’re releasing. Check out some of the other highlights: • Ability to specify authentication for WMS layers. • Improved process for uploading GeoJSON/KML/Shapefiles. • New weight field and custom colours in heatmaps. • Support for TopoJSON files alongside GeoJSON / KML and Esri Shapefiles. This post just scratches the surface! In this video, I'll cover everything you need to know about ARCGIS Maps in PowerBi. Topics include: - Introduction - Plotting points with different colors (Coverage Maps) - Creating HeatMap - Clustering - Excluding areas/points from the map - Importing Postal Codes from Web Note: one of the very high limitation in powerbi standards maps that it support a limited number of points to be plotted in the map so it can’t deal with bigdata but this issue addressed by ARCGIS and Mapbox Maps #powerbi #5G #4G #dataanalysis https://lnkd.in/d_SUyVzi

ArcGIS for Power BI 👩💻 Combining the spatial analysis prowess of ArcGIS with the robust data analysis capabilities of Power BI yields a comprehensive analytical solution, leveraging both spatial and non-spatial data to unlock deeper insights. By integrating these two platforms, users can harness the potential of GIS alongside advanced tabular data processing, visualization, and data handling. This integration facilitates seamless analysis and visualisation of complex datasets, empowering users to extract actionable insights from both spatial and non-spatial aspects of their data. Spatial analysis enhances decision-making by visually mapping relevant locations, uncovering relationships, and identifying patterns. By integrating spatial attributes into data analysis, you can pinpoint locations in relation to critical variables and overlay contextual layers such as demographic and environmental factors, including income, population, and weather - which could be accessible for free at ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World! As a Power BI user, whether you're analysing environmental impacts, evaluating historical trends in utilities maintenance data, assessing financial trends across regions, or exploring many other use cases, ArcGIS for Power BI can elevate your data storytelling. Why I switched from Tableau to QGIS for site selection. Here are 3 reasons. In site selection, visualizing data on maps is crucial. I used Tableau because it's easy and quick for creating nice maps. But now, I switched to QGIS. Here’s why: 1. **Open Source**: QGIS is free. No costs involved. 2. **Layer Possibility**: It offers advanced layering options. 3. **Border Marking**: Precise border marking capabilities. I admit that I only used simple functionalities with Tableau. Perhaps I could have used layers or boundary contours in Tableau as well. But I found the help too complicated. Another reason for my switch to QGIS, which will be my go-to tool for now. What tools do you use for site selection? #SiteSelection #GIS #BusinessTools

🌍Dashboards are vital for turning data into action. Choosing the right tool is the key! Many tools are available but the most familiar ones are Power BI and ArcGIS online dashboards. 🔹 Power BI is ideal for tracking climate indicators. It integrates diverse data sources and offers interactive visuals, making it great for connecting multiple data sources and filtering for detailed information. However, it’s less suited for detailed field and spatial analysis. 🔸ArcGIS dashboard is perfect for advanced mapping, logistics operations and emergency response. 💠 For basic needs, both are effective.
