In the last two years, we’ve seen an explosion of AI startups, not because more people suddenly became AI/ML experts, but because the ecosystem changed dramatically. Today, we have an abundance of pre-trained models, user-friendly APIs, and endless tutorials that make it easy to build with AI. This shift opened the door for a wave of companies, but many solutions are “me too” products, essentially wrappers around LLMs that don’t offer much differentiation. One trend I’ve noticed is that AI is often equated with LLMs. While large language models are impressive, they’re not always the best choice for every task. Many solutions would be better served by other machine learning methods or even simpler techniques that target the problem more directly. It’s also become common to see the AI being promoted over the actual problem it’s meant to solve, a pattern we see whenever a new tech trend gains hype. Building successful products should be about using the best tools for the job, not just the trendiest. There’s nothing wrong with using accessible APIs or pre-trained models for rapid prototyping. But having a clear vision for how your solution stands out and truly improves on what’s out there is essential. The tech should support the vision, not define it. #ai #startup #newideas

The AI revolution is similar to the Internet revolution, but accelerated and amplified. Why? For two decades, we have been laying the foundation for AI adoption. Becoming a digital-first culture is one major piece. Supercomputers in our pocket is another. We are digitally fluent today in a way we weren't in 1996. And now that gen AI has reached a threshold of usefulness, it is catching fire like nothing I've ever seen. 🤖 I write about building startups in the age of AI. Beginner AI startup tip: Keep your model simple at the start. Complex models are hard to train and maintain early on. A simple model lets you quickly test and iterate. Prioritize simplicity when starting out. Then, once you see a stable result, gradually add complexity.

If you want understandable tips and tricks on how to use AI and recent AI developments, then check out Allie K. Miller. I have been following her for some time and really like her content. In this article she shares how you also can get started in AI. The first topic she suggest is that you should read AI-newsletters, there are several that are good but if you want to support one of my local Swedish favorites then check out Paulina Modlitba and her newsletter Pausplings trendspaningar: https://lnkd.in/epgE6keJ It is not only AI, but a lot of AI and other relevant recent tech trends. Allie's third suggestion is that you can get an AI-mentor. If you want an AI mentor I now a lot of brilliant people in the space or if you think I could help you in some way, then ask. I usually have an hour for an online coffee. Nr 9. in Allies article says - Work with an AI-startup. Well if that's what you want to do. Then I am happy to introduce you to our startup Precode.ai and see how we can do some fun things together 🤩 Have fun learning about AI :)

Steven Levy's column this week explores the wonderful world that is Groq, so eloquently capturing its magic: "That speedy turnaround left me disoriented. When there’s a pause between prompt and output, the feeling is that some artificial brain is cranking away at the answer, which comes as the result of gobs of computation—a process similar to human thought but faster. But when the answers just … show up, you get a different feeling. Was the musical there all along? Did Groq have a day pass to all possible versions of the multiverse?" Check out the future of #genai for yourself below or at groq.com. (And for anyone attending #sxsw2024 & interested in learning more, reach out!) #client
AI chips from startup Groq allow chatbots to answer queries almost instantly. That could open up whole new use cases for generative AI helpers.
