The EU’s progress on sustainability: inspiring wins and alarming gaps. 🌍 The EU has made strides on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), but the latest Sustainable Development in the European Union report from Eurostat highlights one thing: we’re far from the finish line, and the clock is ticking. The good news? There’s clear progress in reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and boosting decent work and economic growth (SDG 8). Efforts to tackle poverty (SDG 1), promote gender equality (SDG 5), and innovate for a better future (SDG 9) are paying off. Some indicators even hit record highs this year. The bad news? Big challenges remain in areas like clean water and sanitation (SDG 6) and affordable, clean energy (SDG 7). The energy crisis and geopolitical tensions have slowed progress, while biodiversity loss (SDG 15) and health (SDG 3) show worrying trends, partly due to the pandemic’s lingering effects. Why should businesses care? Because they’re at the heart of the solution. Beyond meeting regulations, companies have the power to drive change by embracing sustainability in their strategies and supply chains. It’s about decarbonizing, adopting circular practices, and investing in sustainable technologies. We need less talk, more action—and fast. It’s time for bold steps and meaningful partnerships between governments, businesses, and communities. Incremental change won’t cut it anymore. Let’s turn the SDGs into more than just goals. Let’s make them a reality. #Sustainability #ClimateAction #SDGs #ESG #Business

As the interconnectedness of climate and gender issues becomes increasingly apparent, supporting women-led intervention models is not just a choice, but an urgent necessity for meaningful environmental transformation. SAWF IN believes that women especially from marginalised communities, owing to their vulnerability to the fallout of climate change should be engaged in framing solutions that are most relevant to their situation and context. A greener sustainable world can only be achieved if the gender disparity in decision making and resource distribution is overcome. #16daysofactivism #sawfin #GreenFuture #SustainableEnvironment #GreenDevelopment #RaisingWomenVoices #Genderequality

On the road from CBD to UNFCCC, we’re excited to share our new UNDP joint-team publication that shows how countries can and are finding ways to increase ambition, accelerate progress and meet interlinked goals by putting #GenderEquality at the heart of NBSAPs and NDCs (ie national biodiversity and climate plans). ➡️Common gender gaps are among the chronic disablers for meeting BD & climate goals. 💡Integrated actions can be transformative, especially for women’s economic empowerment and influence, better gender data for policy making, harmonized investments, and more. 🌱The timelines are complementary - which means now is the perfect time for systems change. When you hear Sustainable Development Goals, what exactly do you think they mean? if you are 90% of the population, very little I expect, the SDG's sit in the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications and I must say Minister Eamonn Ryan and his team really do an amazing job but SDG's are more than looking after the Environment The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 global goals set by the United Nations in 2015 to be attained by 2030. Here are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): 1. No Poverty 2. Zero Hunger 3. Good Health and Well-being 4. Quality Education 5. Gender Equality 6. Clean Water and Sanitation 7. Affordable and Clean Energy 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth 9. Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure 10. Reduced Inequality 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities 12. Responsible Consumption and Production 13. Climate Action 14. Life Below Water 15. Life on Land 16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions 17. Partnerships for the Goals These goals are interconnected and designed to be a blueprint for achieving a better future whilst leaving no one behind. #SDGIRL #BetterworkinglivesforallSDG#8

🌍 Building Climate Resilience through Inclusive WASH 💧 How do WASH programs commonly understand climate risk and resilience? How can this be further developed to better inform the design of WASH interventions? We recently spoke with Jeremy Kohlitz, Research Director at UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, about these vital questions as part of Water for Women’s Learning Agenda. Together with our partners, Jeremy is exploring how inclusive WASH approaches can empower communities to adapt to climate challenges. Key Insights: 🌱 Resilience isn’t just about infrastructure—it’s deeply social. Factors like gender equality, disability, and inclusion shape how communities experience and respond to climate impacts. 🔍 Understanding resilience requires moving beyond abstract terms to practical, tangible examples that help guide real-world actions. 🤝 Cross-sector collaboration and localised solutions are essential for effective, climate-resilient WASH programs. 👉 Learn more in our latest Learning Log: https://lnkd.in/gNv3gkpJ Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade | Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water | UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures | Plan International Australia | iDE (International Development Enterprises) | iDE Cambodia | World Vision Australia | WaterAid Australia | London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London #ClimateResilience #WASH #GEDSI
