Going Green 🔋🚛 Emterra Environmental, a leading Canadian waste management company, is rolling out eight shiny new Mack LR Electric refuse trucks in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. These eco-friendly vehicles will be hitting the streets of Courtenay and Comox starting in August, marking Emterra’s first fully electric local fleet. 🌿\ This move is part of Emterra Environmental’s bigger plan to electrify its fleet, building on a successful pilot program they ran in Ontario last year. 🚀 Emterra is putting their money where their mouth is when it comes to environmental sustainability and climate action. 🌎 The arrival of these quieter, zero-emission trucks in the Comox Valley isn’t just about hitting environmental targets—it’s also about modernizing our neighbourhoods. By cutting down on noise pollution and improving air quality, these electric trucks are set to boost the quality of life for residents, which could even have a positive impact on property values. 🏡✨

Today is World Sustainable Transport Day 2024! ♻️🛞 At RiverRidge, we are leading from the front when it comes to ensuring our fleet is sustainable. With the transportation of waste being the most significant contributor to the waste management sector’s carbon footprint, we have embraced opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint through our transport fleet, as part of our carbon reduction strategy. This strategy has saw us transition some of our collection fleet to alternative fuels and invest in Northern Ireland’s first fully electric skip lift vehicle and other EVs, as well as upgrade our fleet and increase the density of our routes. With significant investment this year into new fleet, with improved aerodynamics, safety features in line with new GSR legislation and modern Euro 6 engines with enhanced fuel efficiency and reduced emissions, we are keeping sustainability and efficiency at the forefront of our transport operations as we move to #netzero, and will continue to do so as we move towards a more sustainable future! Find out more about our plans to revolutionise our transport operations in our ESG Report: https://lnkd.in/gcaEqu58. #RiverRidge #RethinkingResources #WasteManagement #NIBusiness #ESG #Environment #Social #Governance

Transforming waste into a cleaner future! 🌍🚯 Ferrybridge 1 has diverted 6 million tonnes of unrecyclable waste, preventing 2.25 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. A true milestone for decarbonisation and the circular economy. 💚♻️ #Sustainability #WasteToEnergy #CircularEconomy
We are thrilled to announce that our Ferrybridge 1 facility in West Yorkshire has officially reached a major milestone in diverting 6 million tonnes of unrecyclable waste from landfill! In doing so, Ferrybridge 1’s operations have prevented approximately 2,250,000 tonnes of CO₂e from entering the atmosphere. Mike Maudsley, CEO of enfinium, said “Preventing over 2 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions at our Ferrybridge 1 facility demonstrates the crucial role energy from waste continues to play in decarbonising the UK’s waste. By offering a more sustainable alternative to landfill for treating the nation’s unrecyclable waste, we are reducing emissions and playing our part in supporting a circular economy. I am immensely proud of Ferrybridge 1’s role in delivering decarbonisation powered by waste for the UK, and am grateful to all of the team at Ferrybridge whose hard work have helped us reach this milestone.” You can read the full story on our website 👉 https://lnkd.in/erzcPaRb

Humans are on track to produce 3.8 billion tonnes of waste per year by 2050 (Global Waste Management Outlook 2024). Inaction and inadequate waste collection, recovery, and disposal will have serious implications on human health, the planet’s health, and the global economy. It’s a global problem, but one that will be solved on a local level. CLOCC is on a mission to demonstrate how engaging with local communities and stakeholders can lead to transformative change that can be replicated on a wider scale. We do this through an inclusive approach focussed on sustainable waste management, responsible use of resources, and focusing on the needs of local societies. In a changing and drying climate, improving how we reclaim and reuse the by-products of our water use is important for future water security. We haven't just named our wastewater plants Water Reclamation Plants, we've committed to embedding sustainable practices in every part of our business. At the Bendigo Water Reclamation Plant, the production of recycled water and biosolids helps us contribute to a circular economy and deliver benefits to our customers, communities and the environment. This Earth Day, and every day, we know a commitment to the environment doesn’t just stop at using less water! We’re saying ‘No’ to wastewater, and ‘Yes’ to innovative ways to deliver recycled water across our region - giving the water we use a second life.

Great post from Evero highlighting the important role waste wood plays in supporting the circular economy. At Seras we supply biomass fuel to six of the UK’s biggest biomass power plants, including Lisahally Power Station. Every year our waste solutions divert 1.1 million tonnes of waste wood away from landfill. By turning waste into clean energy we are making waste matter in our sustainable energy future. #netzero #cleanenergy #biomassenergy #circulareconomy
Did you know? Our Lisahally facility processes most of Northern Ireland's waste wood. Our plant diverted more than 110,000 tonnes of waste wood from landfills in 2023. By diverting this and using it to power local homes we’re not only easing the burden on landfills but also promoting sustainable waste management practices for a cleaner, greener future ♻️ EVERMORE|ENERGY

Eco-Cycle had a transformative year of bold steps toward Zero Waste in 2024—and it wouldn’t have been possible without YOU! Together, we turned bold ideas into powerful actions, creating healthier communities, a stronger economy, and thriving closed-loop systems. Here are some highlights we achieved together this year: 🏫 Empowered over 40,000 students and staff through our Green Star Schools® program, reducing waste by up to 67% in participating schools. ♻️ Shaped groundbreaking policy with Colorado’s Producer Responsibility program, paving the way for free statewide recycling. 🚫 Helped eliminate 1.5 billion plastic bags in Colorado by supporting the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act. 🌾 Built community composting solutions, partnering with local farmers to enrich their lands. 🔄 Recycled over 95 million pounds of materials, keeping valuable resources out of the landfill. Dive deeper into these milestones in our 2024 Annual Report: ecocycle.org/annual-report Your support makes this possible. Together, we’re proving what’s achievable when communities unite for a waste-free, resilient future. Here’s to even bolder steps in 2025!
