Very Interesting one : CEOs need CHROs who think like CEOs. They need captains who can chart a course for the future, aligning HR strategy with the company’s long-term voyage. Gone are the days when HR departments were synonymous with dusty policy manuals and overflowing stapler drawers. Today’s CHRO is a strategic architect, a growth engine, and a champion for change. #HR #CHRO #Leaders #CEO So, the question : is this true ? or are you ready to step up ?

HR needs to be a part of setting broader business strategy. This means that it is our responsibility as HR leaders to be knowledgeable about the business, beyond just HR. This also means that we need a CEO that sees the value in HR and how making us a part of the table leads to better business outcomes. If you feel unsure about the business strategy side of things, try to answer a few questions for yourself first: - What is the vision and mission for the organization? - What are we trying to achieve in the next 12 months? - What about the next 6? - Is our organizational structure well set-up to help us achieve our goals? - Do we have the right mix and number of humans to enable us to deliver? - Is there clarity around our values and the culture the CEO wants to see across the business? - Do we have the adequate mechanisms to plan for the future in a way that gets effective buy-in from leaders and managers across the business? If you don't know some of the above, it means that probably others in the business don't either. Getting clarity on the above as a starting point (and then so much more!) is key to having an informed leadership team that can actually achieve the goals they set out to achieve. HR strategy is part of the business strategy - they need to work in tandem! #hr #businessstrategy #hrstrategy

Increasingly, businesses of all sizes are recognising the need for a people expert in the senior leadership team. But for many growing businesses, a full time People Director is something they either don't need, don't want, or simply can't afford. But there is another way. If cost is holding your business back from bringing in top-tier HR talent to embed a people plan at the heart of your business strategy, then considering a fractional People Director is the ultimate #winwin Here are just a few examples of the commercial impact a strategic People Director has - and often in as little as one day a week. So really, when you think about it - can you afford NOT to have one in your business? #strategicHR #CPO #fractionalHR #csuite #TrustedPeopleExperts

Some interesting insights from the data I’m getting from key clients and my broader business network based on 10 key areas of HR. The top 3 areas across the board needing the most attention and focus are: - leadership and key person risk - learning and development - performance management If you reflect on the current state of your business are any of these areas needing some attention? At the moment we are working proactively with our key clients in these areas and finding a lot of new clients are coming to us wanting support in these areas too. Without great leaders, career pathways for your key team members, and role clarity that drives collective alignment and effort in your team you are exposing yourself to turnover and lost productivity leading into 2025. If you’d like to explore any of these 3 areas in your business please get in touch. Curious about the difference between an HR consultant and a fractional HR leader? Executive Human Resources Consultant | Senior HR Advisor + Strategist | Corporate HR Specialist | Strategic Human Resource Leader | Fractional Leadership | Internal Branding + Culture
What's the difference between an HR consultant and a fractional HR leader? I get this question a lot, and it’s an important one. Often, I’m introduced as an HR consultant, but that’s not quite the case. There’s a significant difference. As a fractional HR leader, I’m more embedded with my clients than a typical consultant would be. I’m not just providing advice from the outside; I get involved in the day-to-day operations. I sit in on leadership and team meetings, participate in company activities, and strive to be an integral part of the team. In this role, I provide the same executive HR business partner strategic services that I did for business leaders when I worked in corporate HR. The difference? Now, I’m doing it for small businesses, CEOs, founders, and entrepreneurs who truly value the impact a strategic HR business partner can bring to their organization. I help manage internal HR functions and handle vendor management of external HR providers. The journey since founding YourHR has been incredibly rewarding, as I’ve had the privilege of helping small businesses navigate the complexities of HR and being part of making a real difference for my clients. Over the last few weeks, I’ve had the pleasure meeting several CPOs and HRDs across sectors including Retail, Logistics, Hospitality and Healthcare to discuss their key HR focus for early 2025. The common trend from these meetings is retention of high performing HR professionals within their teams. Given the HR recruitment market throughout the first 9 months of 2024, HR Leaders have recognised that in many cases, they have retained Talent through market conditions. As we close 2024 and move into 2025, the HR recruitment market is gaining momentum resulting in “passive” candidates becoming more active. Therefore, how are HR Leaders ensuring they retain their high performers? The theme from my meetings is a refocus on engaging with the team, ensuring their Leadership teams are focusing on Talent Management, Succession planning and Communication across their functions. I’d be interested in reconnecting with HR Leaders across my network and new connections to discuss their views on this topic. Please DM to arrange discussion. #humanresources #HRleadership #HRinsights #HRcommunity Stuart Elliott Kirstin Hunt
