Thank you to our Waynesboro, Georgia, employees for raising over $20,000 through Paceline to support Georgia Cancer Center’s research. Over the past two years, the plant hosted cookoffs, participated in the Burke County community ride and made direct PaceDay rider donations. Watch the interview below as Waynesboro plant manager and cancer survivor, Keith Dutterer, shares how together with Paceline we can cure cancer faster. https://lnkd.in/esFyxqf5

For the 2nd year, I am supporting individuals and families affected by CACNA1A by participating in the 3rd Annual CACNA1A 5K Run, Walk, and Roll. This cause is near and dear to me, as our daughter Barri, has been diagnosed with this rare disorder at 13 months old. We are asking for your support by making a donation to assist with research for Barri and others affected. The CACNA1A Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by CACNA1A-related diseases and accelerating research to find a cure. 100%of the funds go directly to the foundation! Last year we crushed our goal, and this year we hope to exceed our $7k goal! Sign-up here: https://lnkd.in/e-MXYe9p If you plan to walk with us on Sunday, May 19th at Anacostia Park- please register for the walk and order the swag bag, which contains the Tshirt we will be wearing. You can register now through may, however in order to receive the Tshirt, you must order by March 7. If you are not in the area, but still want to donate, please support by giving to my personal fundraising page: https://lnkd.in/ebQDtQxv What is CACNA1A? CACNA1A is a gene that plays a vital role in the communication between neurons in the brain. CACNA1A-related disorders are rare and lifelong conditions that affect the brain. People who have brain differences due to CACNA1A can have a wide range of symptoms or features, but they are united by the fact that their symptoms all are due to differences within the CACNA1A gene. These symptoms significantly impact the lives of the people who live with this disorder and their families. Current options for treating CACNA1A-related disorders are limited to managing and/or treating symptoms. There is no known cure for CACNA1A Why Participate? Individuals and families are affected by challenging symptoms related to CACNA1A every day, including uncontrolled seizures, hemiplegic migraines, cerebellar atrophy and more. There are very limited treatments and no cure. The clock is ticking.

#SUDEPActionDay2024 1 out of every 150 people with poorly controlled seizures or epilepsy die from SUDEP. Before April 7, 2024, I was unaware of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy). It wasn't until my brother passed away in his sleep that we learned seizures can lead to this risk. If you know anyone with seizures or epilepsy, please inform them about SUDEP and discuss it with their neurologist. Taking proactive steps can reduce risks and potentially save lives. There are resources out there, it’s a matter of having a conversation first. While it's too late for Jaaden, we can all help others avoid a similar fate. In honor of Jaaden Steward and others who have passed from SUDEP, the Steward family will be hosting a kickball fundraising event on Nov. 16th. We invite all who can to participate. All proceeds will be donated to the Epilepsy Foundation. Information can be found on the website listed below. https://lnkd.in/ewh-Sfua

Week 2 of Movember is in full effect! I cheated this year and have a full ginger trucker 'stache, come find me in the wilds of Seattle to see it! For the past 13 years I've supported Movember who raises funds and awareness for men's health issues - prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health. Since 2003 they've raised over $1 billion and funded over 1,300 programs targeting men's health issues. With your generosity, I've contributed almost $200k to that number! If you want to support my efforts, Pringles is doing a $25 for each $25 donation made this morning at 9 am PST. They will match each donation up to a total of $250 per person (donate 10 times and double your money!). You should be able to access my profile below if you want to make a donation! You can also donate any time, not just this morning! This week's post focuses on Prostate Cancer. Did you know it's the most common cancer in men over 45 years old? More that 1.4 million men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year, those who regularly visit the Dr. and are aware of their health have a great chance at survival with early detection. Being in tune with your health can mean the difference of being a survivor and a statistic (we all want you around!). Are you a Black male or a man with African ancestry? Even more important for you to be aware of you health and health history as (for reasons still not fully understood) you are more at risk than others. While most men should start engaging more with their Dr. around 50, Black men and those with African ancestry should start around 40. You can learn more about prostate cancer here https://lnkd.in/gkyAUad8 Make an impact today in a guys life by asking them to sign up for a physical (I just scheduled mine for 2025!), go on a walk or hike or paddle or gym session, to ask their family about health history and commit to taking just a little better care of themselves this month. We are a tough customer, but keep after us and change will occur...! #prostatecancer #movember #menshealth #visitadoc #gingertruckerstache #supportanonprofit

I #love this #charity that is helping families with multiple therapies such as #art and #music #therapy, #grief #counseling, whatever a family unit needs if they have a #child with #Cancer for a #Lifetime , and it is only $1,500 to help a #Family, your fellow #Genus and #species to #cope and to #improve #lives of #children at #war with #Cancer. When #enduring #tough #times, it’s nice to know #AustinHatcher is going to be there for the whole family not just the #victim. That is a #World #Message. War is not: #Homo #sapiens (you) 🆚 Homo sapiens (me). War is all of #us winning something worse than the #bubonic #plague. Cancer is #nasty. It means your body is at war with itself. Over 💯 #Types of Cancer #attack #humans. Some say rats were responsible for the #Black #Death but no it was the #mosquitoes that sucked bubonic plague from the rats then #delivered into #mankind from one quick #tranfusion of an #unknown #disease before showing any #symptoms. Then suddenly half of Europe was dead. Earth has 10 billion people today, then all of a sudden there could be only 5 billion people. #Nuclear #War is gentle in comparison to cancer. April marks Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, a crucial time to shed light on this often overlooked form of cancer. Testicular cancer doesn't discriminate – it can affect anyone with testicles, including men, transgender (trans) women, and people assigned male at birth. With around 2,300 individuals diagnosed each year, awareness is key. Whether you're personally impacted by testicular cancer or simply want to learn more, we're here to provide valuable information and support. Let's join forces to raise awareness and encourage early detection. Together, we can make a difference. https://lnkd.in/eWqiC5nc 💙 #TesticularCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #HealthAwareness 🎗️

coming up this weekend is the Race Against Kids Cancer at High Plains Raceway near Byers, CO. Ever want to exercise your inner smite button? Ever want to have the feeling of a Race Steward and set the grid for a race? NOW YOU CAN! NOW OPEN FOR “BUMPING”… Go ahead….you know you want to! Have some fun with your favorite drivers by bumping them up or down the starting grid for Saturday afternoon’s “Fun’d Race”. How do you “bump” folks? Simply go to gridbidsforkids.org, select the driver that you want to bump and the bumping action you want (bump them to the pole position, bump to the back of the grid, or bump them up or down the grid), then add your bump to your shopping cart. Repeat the process for additional driver bumps. You can even include a note to your “bumpee”, just for fun! Then simply check out like you would for any online purchase. Bumping action is NOT limited to RMVR drivers or even just RMVR members--anyone and everyone can have some fun bumping folks! Encourage family and friends to get in on the fun! Bumping has already started….and won’t stop until 30 minutes before the start of each run group’s Fun’d Race on Saturday afternoon. Go ahead….have some fun! GridBidsforKids.org
