Thank you to everyone who has already donated to the Jordan Winter Charity Drive! So far we have collected over 1.5 tons of donations which will be distributed to various local charities each week. Visit the Estate during the allocated donating times to deliver your donation and collect your wine. (Daily from 10:00 – 16:00.) All clothing donations should be washed and folded as a health and safety precaution for our staff. All clothing donations should be packed in clear plastic bags. NO BLACK BAGS of clothing will be accepted. Dog and cat food is appreciated. Community impact? The primary impact of this firms business model increases homelessness (currently at 10K+ homeless people on any given night) by gentrifying neighborhoods and forcing people who make less money out. "Global day for people and planet" yet the firm musters up 2 small bins of mostly dog and cat food...this doesn't even align. How about taking on projects that actually help to reduce the number of homeless people in the city instead of ones that are for the affluent population and for corporations to profit from. I hope other architecture studios in Toronto can learn from these fake displays of positive community impact. Many studios like this promote themselves as doing good but really at a foundational socio-economic level, they drive some of the biggest problems in the city. #thinkcritically #communityimpact #torontohomeless

Say, for example, that a donor had a pot P to donate annually to eight similar charities. She could measure their performance based on x interventions costing y annually (the formula is more complicated, this is a simple example). By applying Markovitz Theory of Portfolio Selection she could allocate P among the eight charities according to the Markowitz calculated coefficients efficiently in order to maximize her personal charitable giving utility. The risk-return element is part of the formula. Am I on to something or barking up the wrong endangered tree forest? Answers welcome on an e-postcard.
