Infrastructure NSW, in partnership with Roads Australia and Aurecon, were delighted to hold an interactive workshop for Roads Australia members on decarbonising infrastructure delivery yesterday. Our team provided an update on the implementation program for the Decarbonising Infrastructure Delivery Policy, findings from our recent capability survey, and discussed the toolkit of resources to assist industry in applying the policy on projects. The session included an interactive workshop where participants were able to test how the policy will work in a hypothetical project setting. The session’s insights will feed into the toolkit of resources and the forward work program for the team. Many thanks to Roads Australia, Aurecon and all attendees for their ongoing support and partnership. https://lnkd.in/gaxtCHYx #decarbonisation #sustainability #INSW #RA #Aurecon

Interesting insights into increasing the speed of construction in New Zealand. #Whatdoesittake is modular bridge construction the answer ? Modular bridge construction using standardised, repeatable and scalable designs can accelerate construction in infrastructure projects. Aurecon developed the A-Bridge for short span bridges and completed projects have demonstrated the benefits in quality, programme and cost with this approach. https://lnkd.in/gJreMrFc. No doubt a modular approach could be used in NZ where the scale is right.

Take at a look at our new report from the Net Zero Infrastructure Industry Coalition focussing on the importance of including carbon sequestration from nature in our carbon baselines. Net zero is widely integrated within government and corporate sustainability agendas. However, when nature is missing from the baseline used to set net zero targets, neither the losses in carbon storage resulting from damage to the natural environment or the emission reductions are captured, creating an invisible carbon gap. #Nature #NetZero #NZIIC
At Mott MacDonald, we recognise that urgent action is needed by the infrastructure industry to put nature on the same footing as carbon reduction. The need for fast paced change now comes from the opportunity for nature to support decarbonisation of infrastructure developments. 🌿 "Nature: the missing piece of the net zero puzzle," the latest report from Net-Zero Infrastructure Industry Coalition (NZIIC), illustrates why enhancing nature and reducing carbon emissions must be considered together. This report is the first from the NZIIC to place emphasis firmly on enhancing nature alongside decarbonisation for infrastructure developments. 🏗️ This latest publication from the NZIIC, founded by Mott MacDonald, underscores the urgency of this dual approach. By considering the carbon sequestration capabilities of nature, we can avoid unintended consequences and achieve holistic environmental benefits. 📖 Read the full report here: https://mottm.ac/4cyNFMt #Sustainability #Nature #NetZero #Infrastructure #environment #NZIIC
