Hello Folks,
Happy Wednesday!!
Last time when I posted about CPA(US), many of you reached out to me asking for more details. So here it is..!
Certified Public Accountancy has 3 basic pillars:
Eligibility
Examination
Experience + Ethics
Let’s understand the First Pillar…!
ELIGIBILITY:
- A candidate must have a bachelor's Degree or equivalent to enrol in the CPA certification.
- Basic Eligibility Criteria: 120 Education Hours/credits to be eligible to sit for the exam and 150 Education Hours/credits to be eligible for Licensing certification after clearing all four exams.
- This Eligibility requirements may differ from state to state.
- How do you know if you have required Educational Credits/hours? Indian university education lasts three years, equivalent to 30 semester credits in the U.S., or 90 credits total. This means you need:
3 years of Bachelor + Minimum 1 years of Master = 30 semester credits/year = 120 Credits
3 years of Bachelor + 2 years of Master = 30 semester credits/year = 150 credits
- Which course combinations work for this Certification?
Any Bachelor + Masters Degree (This includes Bachelors of Commerce, Master of Commerce, Bachelor of Business Administration, Inter CA, CA and any combinations of Bachelors and Masters in the field of Accounting and Finance)
